As a sports history buff and a guy who likes to see spectacular things happen, I really wanna see the Cubs win the World Series under Epstein's watch.

It would be a great thing to see one guy end two baseball droughts (I won't say "curse" because there's no such thing.) on his way to the HOF.

Oh the Cubs are definitely cursed man. It's hard to believe in curses but 103 years is not a drought.... It rains in the desert.

Link or name of source?

And you mean cash as in $, not as in -ner, right? I'm 99.99% sure you mean $, but you did capitalize cash as if it was a proper noun, so I wasn't sure.

I don't want to take this thread off track but, a "curse" is just something that fans use to rationalize decades of poor ownership, management, coaching, player acquisitions and development.

In other words, "curse" is a way to explain away the fact that unbelievably a team has sucked for so long.

The only "curse" at Wrigley Field is the ones coming out of Cubs' fans mouths after the Bartman incident etc. etc. etc.

If that is all we give up(maybe)..

I can live with that

Well, I'd have a hard time seeing it be more than that :D

daddies would trade BJax, Cashner, McNutt, and the Boise Hawks though...

When you look back at the idiots who've owned this team since the last time the Cubs won, it's not actually that hard to understand why the team has sucked for so long

Curses cause bad things to happen. They cause the Leon Durham's to miss ground balls, they cause the Bartmans to buy tickets and reach for foul balls. They cause an excellent SS to boot an easy double play ball. They cause a whole team to not show up 2 years in a row in the first round of the playoffs. They cause the Yankees to win way too damn much....
Haha I am just playin' we just have been in a rough patch for a few years that's all.

No it couldn't be.

One of these two men has a direct impact on who is on the team. The other doesn't. Cutler isn't building the team around him. Epstein is controlling players, coaches, etc at all levels. Cutler being on the team may impact indirectly who Angelo targets, but Cutler isn't making the choices. Angelo is.

Epsteins success>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.Cutler's success before coming to Chicago. Cutler was a young up and coming QB who made a Pro Bwol despite Phillip Rivers being better. Epstein is a young GM who is already one of the best in the game and has two championships in one of the toughest markets in baseball(fan base/criticism wise).

The rest of your post was pointless. Again, Cutler can't build the team around himself. He has virutally no control over player personnel decisions. Epstein will be building an entire system once he gets here. There is no reasonable comparison between the two other than Chicago fans being meatheads about it all. Rickett's has shown himself so far to be rather hands off with Hendry, so much so as to letting him trade etc even after he was "fired". I really doubt the fanbase has any realistic worries of Rickett's being too control happy in terms of Epstein and the FO anymore than any average owner would be.

Comparing Epstein to Cutler is ridiculous. One is much more important than the other.

You wasted your time typing out the differences between a player and a general manager. The expectations are absolutely the same despite the fact they play different roles: They're both being viewed upon as saviors to right the ship of their organizations at their respective positions. Do you really think that I didn't know that the roles they play in doing that are different?

Cutler throws 26 interceptions in 2009 and gets criticized for not being the next coming of Tom Brady even though people are so stupid to see that the offense sucks, can't protect him and he's not the best decision maker when it comes to throwing the ball. No one, at least not the dumbasses, cared that Angelo didn't try to get him a competent wide receiver when he got here. People expected him to throw 50 yard bombs every week to a guy like Devin Hester with a 162 year old Orlando Pace trying to protect him. They just figured "he's Jay Cutler who threw for 4,000+ yards and went to a Pro Bowl" and didn't consider that the talent on the Bears was far less lucrative than what he had in Denver...

Let's just say, the Cubs lose 90 games again next year. Epstein gets criticized because the meatballs expect a World Series victory right now because he's Theo Epstein, the man who brought two championships to Boston for the first time after years of torment. Of course, this is just one of many possible scenarios that could happen in 2012...

Each of them will get criticized for different things in their roles but the fact that both of them are being expected to do big things are completely the same.

Again, the main point is they're being expected to go above and beyond right away just because both of them had success elsewhere in their roles.

You type up Epstein's success >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cuter's success

When the **** was I comparing their successes to each other? You're the one who seems to want to turn this into a dick measuring contest between Cutler and Epstein.

The only thing that is comparable between the two are expectations in their respective roles.....Have I said that enough now? Or are you so fucking stupid that you can't comprehend what I'm trying to say?

This isn't the Chicago Cutlers Forum, it is the Chicago Cubs Forum.

Cutler should pitch for the Cubs. Less chance of him getting killed by the opposing defense.

He would probably start to miss it. And feel uncomfortable and just hit the opposing hitter so he'll charge and tackle him on the mound to feel more at home.
