Would Byrnes also require compensation?
Would Byrnes also require compensation?

I thought Uman was a fan of both Chicago baseball teams. I'm sure that's allowed.
Also, Aaron Rodgers is good at football.
Epstein will earn $3MM or more on his new deal with the Cubs, but it still falls short of what Tigers president and GM Dave Dombrowski earns, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (Twitter links). Heyman noted earlier this week that Dombrowski, one of baseball's longest-tenured GMs, earns about $5MM.
Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times hears that the Cubs expect a reconciliation with Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg this week. Epstein interviewed Sandberg for Boston's Triple-A managerial position last offseason, but Sandberg turned the job down to manage in the Phillies' system. Cubs manager Mike Quade is under contract through 2012.
Well I guess that answers my question about whether Epstein is the highest paid GM. You have to figure that he is in top 3 in terms of salary.
Sandberg coming back makes too much sense PR wise for the Cubs not to do it, and since managers really don't matter that much I am ambivalent about it. However, I think people are jumping the gun on Theo wanting to bring Sandberg in as manager since just about every single article about Theo has mentioned the fact that he wanted Sandberg for AAA manager.
Tom Ricketts has players he's willing to give up, there evaluating them and then the Red Sox will chose. A decision could come as early tomorrow, the weekend could sound good with a press conference next week.
Probably a choice between Castro, Garza, or a Soto-Jackson-Cashner-Marshall-McNutt-Barney package

No major leaguers will be involved and i dont see jackson going anywhere.
if anyone doesnt know, Cashner is hitting 100mph on the gun in Arizona and scouts are saying he is one of the top 5 young arms

Interim general manager Randy Bush, director of player personnel Oneri Fleita and scouting director Tim Wilken were to report back to Ricketts which player or players they would be comfortable with trading, according to the sources.
According to another major league source, part of the compensation conversation also centered around which Red Sox employees Epstein would be allowed to bring to Chicago.
