It's not gonna.
Law has been known to have an anti-Cub slant for a long time. Forunately for him, most of the time it has worked out with the Cubs track record of developing prospects.
Everyone take a minute and think the scenario out.
Red Sox have basically kicked Theo out. Cherington is the GM.
How would the Red Sox have much if any power if they've already made the move and Cherington is the one working on the comp?
The Cubs really hold the cards at this point.
So if this falls through will Ricketts be most hated man in Chicago
I think it depends on the circumstances and who Ricketts goes out and gets instead. If Boston is demanding guys like Castro and Garza (which has been rumored), then I don't think anyone would blame Ricketts for walking away. If he goes out and gets Rick Hahn instead, I think the fans would be disappointed but understanding.
But yeah, Theo > prospects. If it comes to it, the Cubs will pay. And Theo will rebuild.
Its prospects...not mlb players.....espn source said they eant youklis replacement....give them vitters and be done with it
Rice,
Would you give up Castro and Garza to ge Theo here for the long term?
Just curious.
I'd probably give up Garza but not Castro...just for the upside thing and the part where I don't think Theo is magical enough to contend in the short term. But I don't think it'll come to that. I also don't think the Cubs will give up Brett Jackson. I think the Cubs basically have the leverage at this point and Boston is just stalling.
Another thing is mlb don't want this announced till tue...both teams have weekend to low ball each other
Why?
If it is about prospects I'd be interested to see who Boston has on their list.
I think you can Google the Cubs' top prospects list and there's your answer.
