My favorite teams
ugh, just get this done with already
Boston radio station WEEI reports: The first day of negotiations between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs regarding compensation for the Cubs hiring Theo Epstein as general manager revealed a gap between the sides.
WEEI's John Dennis tweeted that the talks "did NOT go well today" and that the Red Sox want prospects while the Cubs want to pay only cash.
More than likely something will get done, but it is good to see the Cubs trying to play hardball and hang onto as many pieces as they can.
In addition to taking some Boston front office members with him to Chicago, Epstein may also take some of the Red Sox medical staff, tweets Tony Massarotti of the Boston Globe.
Law describes Brett Jackson (taken 31st overall by the Cubs in the 2009 amateur draft) as a "non-star prospect" and thinks he would be fair compensation to be sent to the Red Sox as compensation for Epstein.
I'd rather get Hahn or Cherrington. A deal has to get done, they already named Cherrington GM.
It's fuckin ESPN, what do we expect.
No, they said he will be, but didn't actually make his title official yet.
That's called a Bs play by Law.
He knows Jackson is rated high. He's gonna play him lower to make it more feasible in their minds.
If I'm not mistakin', Law has praised Jackson before.
