I might be wrong, but I think it's something like 24 hours before first pitch of the World Series that all non-World Series news must wait til the WS is over.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs basically don't give a shit and announce it an hour before first pitch

If I was Ricketts I would pull a bluff and walk from the table. Tell him your done you can keep Theo. Not like that can happen at this point. Seriously what leverage does Boston have to demand things for a guy that doesn't even wanna be there

Then let Theo go back to boston....

than He resigns as Gm and after World Series he signs with da cubbies

Boston wont get squat in return....:yeah:

Pff.

Let McNutt go if that's what is holding this up.

I don't understand the fascination with him.

If it were that easy that's what Theo would ahev deon from the start. I'm sure Theo has language in his contract that if he resigns he can't sign with another team for a certain length of time without the Red Sox getting compensation. Standard non-compete clause.

Agreed McNutt is nothing special. Guy was 32nd RD pick. Had 1 good year in minors. If he all BOS wants for a GM who has lead BOS to 2 WS im all for it :)

David Kaplan's "source" says a deal won't get done by tomorrow.

Should probably compile a list of all the things Kaplan has said over the past couple weeks re: Epstein and then we can determine how reliable his "source" is :D

IMO his future is in the bullpen.

Think Kyle Farnsworth-esque overall.

I wouldn't give in to the Sox' demands at all. I would make them an offer of money and a shit prospect that won't make it out of A ball and leave. That's all they should get.

They totally could do that. And I would not be surprised at all with a 250,000 fine and possible loss of first round pick in the 2012 draft. MLB takes the WS very seriously.

I don't think the Yankees or A-Rod got any financial flak for discussing his opt-out a few years back.
