Epstein will be a Cubs tomorrow or Tuesday for sure. It's pretty close. As it won't be a major league player, a top prospect and just cash. It will be a player or two and cash. It won't be as much because the deal will only be Epstein, no medical staff or front office members. The JJ and Flaherty players to go to Boston would seem real. Those two plus cash.

As much as I like JJ, he's only a back end of the rotation guy or a RP. Flaherty is overrated and probably a utility guy and best. Don't the Cubs already have that in Barney? Also, there's players that will do the same as Flaherty in the system. He's getting older and nothing special by any measure.

So...I could see a Jay Jackson, Flaherty and cash to the Red Sox done in the next day or two.

I heard a deal has to be reached by Tuesday or an announcememt can't be made until after the World Series.

Jay Jackson is a 24 year old to be SP prospect who had an ERA over 5 last season. Why exactly shouldn't the Cubs be willing to give him up?

Alberto Cabrera is a guy who in 28 starts between AA and AAA last season had an ERA of over 6.

Which tells you how bad the Cubs farm system can be.

Szczur isn't anything special at all.....and I'm a really big fan of his. An average CF at best..maybe a plus 4th OF'er but nothing to get all hyped about.

In 09 & 10, he was worth 3 wins both years. This year he sucked, but he also showed some good signs in which he looked like the 09, 10 Randy Wells. Part of this is due to his HR/FB rate this year, which is exorbitantly high.

Did you ever stop to think maybe Wells is just bad and already hit his peak? Overall he's gotten worse each of the last two seasons. If you are really trying to stand against trading Randy fucking Wells in a deal for Theo Epstein I pray to God no one in the Cubs FO has your line of thinking.

Seriously, how are your eyes and stats better than mine? Mine correlate to runs better than yours, guaranteed. Now I will admit that I don't have great eye sight and that I don't wear my glasses, but I can see the TV just fine. And neither of us are professionals, so I think that we're pretty much the same in our lack of knowledge.
