but according to CO's logic, Wells has been 'unlucky'.

He's both unlucky and sucky  The fact is that he's not getting as many swing-and-misses and when they make contact, it tends to go a very long way. So it's a bit of both.

Im what world is Wells a good 4? Only if we want to be a bottom feeder. He isn't even a good 5 IMO. He is a guy you like to have for depth and store in AAA until injury but is easily replaceable he isn't very good.

In 09 & 10, he was worth 3 wins both years. This year he sucked, but he also showed some good signs in which he looked like the 09, 10 Randy Wells. Part of this is due to his HR/FB rate this year, which is exorbitantly high.
I say Epstein is great at developing prospects and I'm still wrong.

Glad CO works for a MLB front office.

Did I say you were wrong? No. The Red Sox can't take him back. We're in a position of power here. We have the leverage. When you are in such a position and you overpay, it's a waste. This really isn't hard.

According to you, Theo Epstein isn't coming here.

I'm saying if Epstein is as good as advertised, no price is too small for his services...a loss of 5 prospects is small compared to the potential he can develop.

Amazing how many people in this forum strive to just be right over the silliest of things.

5 prospects is a lot compared to the 1 that you can get him for.

CO some people watch the games and can tell he sucks we dont need to look at this BS you are trying to feed us.

You can watch all the games you want. But I'm going to trust the metrics over your eyes. Or my eyes.

And if the prospects turn out to be junk it doesn't matter anyways. If the Cubs get the guy they want, it doesn't matter to them what they have to give up.

My stats and eyes are better than your eyes.

If the Cubs want Epstein badly, they'll throw in whoever Boston wants.

That's not entirely true. They'll compensate, but only if it's fair. Theo is a very good GM, but even the Cubs know that there's a certain limit they can reach before the deal gets ludicrous.

And if the prospects turn out to be good? If Theo doesn't bring us a WS? Then what?

Oh your eyes and stats are better than mine. Okay, that must mean you're right.

You're realistic about something? :eek:hmy:  good for you.
It's not like Boston wants the AA and AAA affiliates for Epstein.

Sarcasm son. You're the king of it on here.

Stop posting this garbage. Just because the Cubs want Theo, that doesn't mean they should be played like fools. Just stop already!

If the Cubs are played like fools, which they aren't and haven't been to this point, we'll know about it.

Epstein will be a Cubs tomorrow or Tuesday for sure. It's pretty close. As it won't be a major league player, a top prospect and just cash. It will be a player or two and cash. It won't be as much because the deal will only be Epstein, no medical staff or front office members. The JJ and Flaherty players to go to Boston would seem real. Those two plus cash.

As much as I like JJ, he's only a back end of the rotation guy or a RP. Flaherty is overrated and probably a utility guy and best. Don't the Cubs already have that in Barney? Also, there's players that will do the same as Flaherty in the system. He's getting older and nothing special by any measure.

So...I could see a Jay Jackson, Flaherty and cash to the Red Sox done in the next day or two.

Epstein is a proven, championship-building GM, considered by MLB insiders as the best in the biz. This is the best news for Cub fans in as long as I can remember. And people are arguing over prospects? Gimme a break. Ship Brett Jackson out with the next UPS pickup, overnight FedEx Vitters to Henry's front door. When it comes to getting a franchise-changer like Epstein, you spare no expense.

and if this falls through, i'll laugh at everyone that said it was 'done'.

You should stop posting since you don't know what a troll is. Stop performing an abortion on the english language.

BTW, speaking of trolls, what's a White Sox fan doing in the Cubs forum?

Because all they got was Robin Ventura.

I kid, I kid. But seriously, folks...

Wrong. That's dumb. Makes no sense whatsoever. Trade your top prospect and another higher 'spect for a GM. That is not a smart move. I'd rather have Ricketts hir Hahn or something. It's in the Cubs hand, so don't be dumb and overpay. It's gunna get done, no matter what so don't fold

I think if the Red Sox don't budge then you don't have much of a choice but to give them Brett Jackson, but the Cubs know that they have some leverage and that they might be able to talk them down, and probably are doing just that. Muskat is pretty sure BJax is going nowhere. Since it's not like either team are sending each other ultimatums, they don't have to seem too desperate and just give up BJax right away.

What "insiders" are you referring to?
