Reports: Red Sox, Cubs far away on compensation - CBSSports.com
The Boston Globe notes the Red Sox have interest in some of the few attractive prospects from the Cubs system, like Brett Jackson, Matt Szczur, Alberto Cabrera, Jay Jackson and Trey McNutt. The Globe has also reported the Red Sox like major-league utility player Jeff Baker, but he alone wouldn't be enough. In that same entry, it is noted that the Red Sox would love the Cubs to take John Lackey and his gaudy contract, but that is very unlikely.

Wish they'd just announce something, I can understand keeping stuff under wraps but it causes the media to make all kinds of shit up and you just don't know if the leaked info is good or not.

I'd love to see Boston take two average SP prospects, an overrated SP prospect , a 23 year old High A OFer(Szczur didn't do shit at AA) and a utility player for one of the best GM's in the game.
All those guys are non factors and as a Boston fan I just want to see this shit end and move on.

i was mostly kidding....i agree with what you said....i'd like to keep baker and mcnutt out of the ones you mentioned..but a GM that can open the door for even better prospects and players overall is certainly worth trading current prospects
