The longer this goes on...the more I think this wont happen

There's a chance it won't happen, but that chance is about as good as the Cubs giving up Matt Garza to get Epstein

It's not like they can do all that much during the World Series anyway, might as well take their time and do this right. If not, he's available in a year since the Red Sox fucked this so badly that there's no way Theo is going back.

However, the downside is that Theo won't have much time to prepare for the upcoming off season. Although I suppose that Theo could be working in the mean-time.

I forgot what the deadlines are, but I think there's an exclusive window where the team can negotiate with their own free agents before they decide to go elsewhere after the World Series. That's about the only thing. I'm guessing Randy Bush and crew have been setting up a plan in the meantime as a contingency and can catch Theo (or whoever) up to speed in a hurry.

It's almost a certainty that Theo can't go back to Boston and that Boston would rather have some Cub prospects rather than have to pay $7MM for Theo for a year. If you're into conspiracy theories, maybe this is one big sick practical joke by Boston on the Cubs, but that'd be a super dick move that I don't think Theo would try...I mean, it'd make him a hero in Boston, maybe, but he'd still be a dick

Isn't he bald? Maybe the head and the ass look the same. Assuming he shaves his ass.

Most of the Chicago "sources" are actually secondhand feeds from Boston and Ken Rosenthal. Ricketts isn't talking to anyone but Muskat it seems. So I wouldn't trust anything at this point. The fact that Boston is the one leaking and the leaks are suggesting that Epstein is headed to Chicago is a bit strange, don't you think?

If Selig doesn't want a distraction from the World Series. He's got a day.

Otherwise this story looms over anything the WS is in two massive markets till its done.

Agreed. I don't see the ratings being that great to begin with, but if this deal is still in limbo, they'll be worse. Get it done!

I can't comment for BOS, but it's hardly getting any play in Chicago at this point.

I dunno...one of the greatest players of all time opting out of the largest free agent deal of all time during the clincher of his most heated rival at the time with the possibility of signing an even bigger deal seems pretty huge

Totally true, but players can say that at any time. It's not a signing nor an announced re-signing thus not violating the silence rules. The silence isn't from the players side AFAIK, it's from the teams.

Its still being talked about but both markets have other things to keep them occupied right now. Football and hockey.

It's really not looming over anything.

The public and media shot their wad over it last week. Now it's just awkward cuddling and post sex negotiation of if this is "just a fling" or "the real thing"

The media can put what they want.

I'm talking just us fans..

Since we're in Chicago.. Are we more focused on Epstein or the series?

I'd say almost all of us are following the Epstein story more than the series.
