I am really into fitness I can help you out. I am not a personal trainer but I have helped friends get into shape and have helped as a strength coach for some youth hockey teams. Start with your diet, eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism high.

Meal 1: Egg whites and plain oatmeal (low sugar stuff like Mccann's Irish Oatmeal).
Meal 2: Chicken Breast (baked or pan seared with light oil). Green Beans or brown rice.
Meal 3: Protein Shake (Pre-Workout, I love Pro Complex brand)
Meal 4: Protein Shake (Post Workout, Use Skim Milk)
Meal 5: Fish, lean steak, or more chicken.
Meal 6: Cottage Cheese, Skim Milk. (These have casein protein that will help your body recover and rebuild overnight).

Hit the weights, you do not have to train with heavy weight but strain your muscles. Cardio only burns calories during the exorcise, but weight training will raise your metabolism and put your body in a state of burning fat all day. Also caffeine is your friend (either caffeine pills or black coffee), you would have a very limited carbohydrate intake so you will need caffeine to give you energy. Caffeine also raises your bodies metabolism. Try and hit the weights 3-4 times a week. Also take a multivitamin to make up for the lack of nutrition in the diet.

When it comes to your cardio don't worry about the time worry about the intensity. Look up High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), you can get the same cardio workout from 20 minuets than you could jogging for 2 hours.

It is best to work hard 5 days out of the week and rest completely for 2 days to let your body repair itself.

With this system I helped a friend lose 40 pounds in 2 months.

Wow..

I didnt expect this good of a response!

I'll make use of most of that and try a few other things also!

ehh, not saying he is or isn't making it up..

from my high school experience.. which I graduated in 2005.. You could just go into the weight room whenever.. With or without supervision.

And all I'm saying is that while your story may be true, and maybe CHS's story is true, but I'm guaranteeing you that there is no high school weight room that is just open to anybody. That is how schools get sued, and schools do not like being sued.

Posted this over at VSN

My diet started out back right after Memorial Day. I'm going on right around 35lbs lost right now.

Started off really simple with better portion control.

Instead of a footlong at Subway get a 6" sub. Stuff like that. Eating better foods. Less beer More salads and fruits. Less sugar. NO POP. More water. Just eating healthier low cal meals. Found an awesome cookbook that has tons of great recipes for normally bad foods that are made lower calorie..lower/no fat. It's been awesome.

The cook book is "Taste of Home" Comfort Food Diet cookbook. Kick ass stuff.

For water and stuff during the day at work when people around me are eating all the time between meals I've found like citrus flavored water and stuff with no calories, sugar, etc are awesome. Keeps me full during the day and more hydrated. I've read studies where when people around you are eating you are more likely to eat..even if you aren't hungry.

At first it was tough but now it's just all habit and I'm so pumped about the results that it's motivation to not fall off the wagon so to speak.

Been mixing all this dieting in with lots of interval work running wise and some mileage and the weight keeps coming off. It's been a really great thing. I haven't been this light in about 6 years. I was around 232lbs on Memorial Day. I'm currently sitting at around 197-198lbs.

Any advice on what I can do living on campus?

nothing really...its a converted hotel, so resources are limited.

Only restaurants close are McDonalds, wendys, and taco bell. lol

We have a rec center on campus, but it's on the direct opposite side of campus and I have no car. lol

I hate to cook and I don't have time anyway. Purdue Short Cuts Chicken is great, it is pre-cooked lean chicken breast that is seasoned and cut for you. Also get a George Foreman style grill, it can be used in a dorm room and you can quickly sear a steak, fish or chicken on it. Get over enjoying food and realize it is simply fuel for your body and it will greatly improve your progress. If you put crap fluids into your car it will run like shit, same goes with food and your body.

Anyone that wants me to build them a workout and diet plan around their schedule I am more than willing to help out. Just post the times you can work out, the times you can eat, and what your goals are, and give a general status as to where you're at physically.

Another tip is to stay off the scale, scales are full of shit. People might hold some water weight one day and see even though they worked their ass off that they gained weight and they give up. Also muscle weighs much more than fat so gaining weight it not always a bad thing. Go by how you look and how you feel and throw the scale away.

Ha...we cant have George Foreman grills ....its specifically stated as something we cant have

I can work out usually only on weekends
I eat mondays and wednesdays morning, and then at night (no lunch)
Tuesdays and thursdays I can only eat at night, my schedule is just too packed.

Friday, saturday, and sunday I can eat and workout whenever

I need to lose a substantial amount of weight, like 100lbs+
