When I refer to core training, I mean combining balance with strength training...such as stability or medicine balls. You cannot be truly strong w/o a solid foundation, and you certainly cannot play most sports effectively w/o it. Free standing squats require balance using hip flexors etc, that's solid core training.

People referring to core muscles are talking about abdominals and lumbars. And usually mean shit like planks and crunches.

I did 30 of these yesterday in 3 sets...and I'm in serious pain today. I have sore obliques I didn't know existed.

YouTube - Low Bar Squat Technique Training

I can't do those anymore, scar tissue in left ankle and fused great toe(motorcycle wreck)won't allow me to balance well enough...so I'm stuck w/machines and balls 4/lower body. No big deal, squatting is only necessary for certain sports I'm too old to play anyways.

Are you the asshole that leaves 10 plates on a rack for me to put away?, clean your shit up...lol

Heavy squats?, not a necessity at all...in fact heavy anything always takes a back seat to proper form.

since about mid January I dropped 25 pounds down to 280 from 305. I wasn't working to hard. just fixed my diet, kept drinking though, ran 3-4 days a week. I have a wedding early January that I wan't to be in top shape for (hopefully to nail a bridesmaid or at least a cousin of the bride) so hoping I can drop another 30 by then. Started going hard a few days ago....everyday running, dieting, no soda. Goal weight is 220...60 to go!

was 350 when i graduated so my 10 year reunion imma look like a different person.
