It may work out, but why jump the gun? They picked up his 5th yr option, so why not let him prove he wasn't a 1 hit wonder? He would be just as eager to sign the same contract after this season facing the same 5th year option he isgoing to play under regardless.Allen improved every one of his three season. His passing numbers in 2019 were mediocre, but not terrible and he did run for over 500 yards & 9 TDs. He started every game the past two seasons, leading the Bills to their first division title in 25 years. I would lock that down too.
The contract is interesting as it actually lowers his cap hit for the next two seasons if the Bills let him play out till the fifth year option, so the Bills can keep chasing that Super Bowl title the next two seasons with their QB cheap. A lot of the guaranteed money is tied up in bonuses that gives the Bills flexibility even when you are paying him $40 million a year.
Obviously this is a lot of faith in Josh Allen continuing to deliver as he did last season, but if McDermott believes he has his QB...it's a great contract for both sides.
I would be really mad at my agent if I were Patrick Mahomes right now.
Williams is a homerun backup threat. This is the best RB trio the Bears have had in a long time. Also interesting to see how the Coastal Carolina RB does in mop up duty.
shots fired
How many 20+ yard runs does Herbert have?Homerun hitter???? Guy has had 10, 20+ runs in his career. 10...
7 of those came in that chiefs offense with that field spread open because of talent. only 3 in 4 years in Miami..
not saying he cant break one.. but come on now... 10
because they would have had to probably pay him more if he’s not just a one year wonder. It may work out, but why jump the gun? At what point do contracts level off and there just becomes a market value for positions? Like okay you are a top 5 qb, you get somewhere 45-50 mill. I know the cap generally goes up annually but doesn't that eventually have to stop? Is it sustainable for that and salaries to continue to go up forever? The smaller cap hit in 2021 & 2022 is the only real incentive I see for the Bills FO. I agree it's a huge gamble, but so is waiting for $50 million a year to become the new QB floor.
I think it’s his dad posting

if you truly believe in your guy this is the right move.
But there really isn't anyone that was going to get re-signed to that type of deal anytime soon, so making him prove it 1 more season wouldn't have improved his value. Maybe he ends up earning every bit, but as a GM I would have held off 1 more season. The smaller cap hit in 2021 & 2022 is the only real incentive I see for the Bills FO. Taco gear is legit..$24 for a 4th string RB's T shirt?
I would rather invest in some starting players gear.

At least they capped the rookie QB contracts. I remember Matt Ryan getting paid top QB money for his rookie contract. At what point do contracts level off and there just becomes a market value for positions? Goff, Wentz and Cousins certainly look woefully out of place on this list. Has there ever been a consistently average player more over compensated than Kirk Cousins? He does one thing really well and that’s making money. Maybe Sam Bradford...But there really isn't anyone that was going to get re-signed to that type of deal anytime soon, so making him prove it 1 more season wouldn't have improved his value.
