Seriously... aint gonna happen. How are you going to convince a guy to leave a job where he own a portion of the team?
Money. Like I said, I'd try as hard as I could.

Though, I think a relative unknown will end up getting the job.

Also the track record of guys going from small market to big market teams isn't exactly great (Doug Melvin immediately jumps to mind).

If you pick the right unknown that might be the best call.

I wouldn't consider Milwaukee a big market team in terms of payroll.

If it was a money thing, Beane would have been out of Oakland years ago.

No it isn't for some reason I had confused Doug Melvin with Kevin Malone. Don't ask me how except for possibly drinking heavily.

Beane hasn't had a winning season since 2006. I'm not quite sure how attractive he is as a candidate anymore.

He also has no payroll to work with. He seems to draft SP like crazy. So if he can get young SP here like OAK has then build lineup through FA/draft with extra money Cubs would have i think he could be a very good option

I have to think that Andrew Friedman is by far the most likely guy at this point. Likes Saber, uses Scouting, has success. All what Ricketts wants.

He my number 1 pick

He has to be everyone's number 1 pick, and I doubt Tampa will let him talk to other clubs about an opening prior to the end of the season. That is why I've been saying that for better or worse the Cubs aren't going to pick a new GM til after the season. I have to figure that Ricketts wants to at least talk to Friedman and Cashman (I am more and more thinking that Cashman is the most likely of the current GMs to bolt to the Cubs for a variety of reason) before making what is the most important decision he has made as owner up to this point and probably for the next 5 years.
