My favorite teams
Hire me for GM because I know everything
And hire Steve Stone because he knows everything too
And hire Steve Stone because he knows everything too
idk who we hire for GM, but I have a feeling Brenly will be our manager next year
Honestly i wouldnt mine giving Brenly a shot. He seems to know baseball ALOT more then Quade. Brenly has something that Cub fans dream about. WORLD SERIES RING!!
Only way I want Brenly managing this team is if he brings 2001 versions of Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson.
I love how people only give him credit cause of those 2. ARI didnt just win WS cause of those 2. They had 23 other players. Yes it helped having 2 stud SP like them but they only played 65 games that year. So what about the other 97 games?
Brenly has said many, many disturbing things about baseball, and seems to love bad gritty ballplayers. I think Brenly would be pretty disappointing choice for a team without upper echelon talent.
And it has hard not to give credit to those two, but what about the other amazing ballplayers he had on that team like Luis Gonzalez. The reason Brenly has a ring has far more to do with the talent on his team than his strengths as a manager. Granted that statement applies to just about any manager that has a ring.
So your theory Quade could have won with that team? I honestly dont think Quade could win with MLB team in Little league....
I think quite a few managers could have won with that team. This isn't a defense of Quade, but more that I think that managers have very little effect on the total wins and losses of a team. If you give me that Brenly has a ring therefore he is a good manager argument. I am going to respond with the fact that he had perhaps two of the best pitchers of the day on the team that won. As far as Brenly goes, I just think that Brenly likes bunting and scrappy players too much. I don't think there would be a huge improvement with Brenly and I think I would be frustrated with his in game managing and his choices on the final roster spots.
