Anyone that has written off Kiran “forever” aren’t too bright. None of us really know what he can be one way or another.

I totally agree with that. But, I have to believe most everyone is skeptical. I know I am not ready - at this time - for him to be the starting LT if Jones is not ready day 1, or the swing tackle for that matter. I will be curious how he fares come training camp. I am praying he surprises to the upside.

I think we will find out how they feel about Kiran come the draft. If they take a LT in the first 2 rounds, wouldn't that sort of point to them not having faith that Kiran is what they hoped for?

Amegadjie was always a project. No training camp due to injury on top of coming from a small school. They didn't want him to see the field in year one after having both Jones and Borom but both were injured so we didn't have a choice.

It's not that I would be counting on Amegadjie to start the season as your starting LT but he's a nice developmental tackle prospect. To me, if you take Kelvin Banks Jr. at 10 then looking for a trade for Jones would be a good idea. You then pencil Banks in at starting LT with Amegadjie as the swing tackle and you're not worrying about having to pay anyone at either T position for another 2-3 years still.
Well the only issue here is that Amegadjie is going to be lined up as the starting LT until Braxton is fully back from his injury. Hopefully Braxton will be ready by week 1 but as it currently stands Amegadjie is starting LT

That’s correct. Or they could be grooming him to be the swing tackle

Exactly. People are overlooking that having more tackles than you need would be a good problem to have. I'm not saying you just hoard all the tackles in the league, but Braxton and Kiran both carry big question marks right now. The lesser evil is to get a new one, that you're more confident will become a long term starter and then you have expendable depth that can be traded or at least become good comp picks. What the Bears can't have is two terrible LTs leaving a gaping hole on a young QB's blindside.

100000%

Caleb is the investment right now. Going above and beyond to make sure your investment is protected is prudent

Take Banks at 10 and sleep well knowing you have plenty of options and depth protecting that investment

I agree. Unfortunately there isn't a clear answer in this draft, just more question marks. If there were obvious answers we wouldn't have the opportunity to draft them at 10 anyway. I suppose the probability on hitting on one of three question marks is higher than one of two, but it also comes with the risk of a wasted first round pick.

That said, if our scouting believes Banks is the guy I will defer to their judgement. Poles runs these as a collaborative effort, and by all accounts we have some damn good football minds on our team. If they collectively agree that Banks is the top available player to sustain improvement, then I will reserve judgement until he shows what he is in the league.

Patriots need a lot of help on offense but I could see them taking defense if OL is not BPA for them.

I could see them taking Mason Graham at 4, or obviously picking 1 of abdul Carter or Travis hunter if the giants or browns do something silly or trade out for some team to take a QB.

Either way the Bears can't go into training camp with a rehabbing starting LT and Amegadjie as their two primary left tackles.

If Jones has a set back or if Jones' timeline for recovery changes at all the Bears are fucked.

But yeah Jeanty or Warren make much more sense than solidifying the most important position on the offensive line.

Based on what I've gathered from Allen, he tends to prefer DTs around 300 lbs than the huge guys. Norman-Lott was amazing as a pass rusher. That said, he's one of the 30 visits the Bears have had, so my guess is there's serious interest in him. I find it interesting that there's a Grady comparison, cause it makes it an even nicer fit to learn directly from him. Given he had a pretty subpar workout, I almost wonder if the Bears could be patient and hope he lasts to the 3rd, or trade up from the 3rd if he's there in the late 2nd.

I’d be shocked if he lasts until the 3rd. Think he’s going early round 2 and if you told me he’d sneak into the back half of the 1st, I wouldn’t be surprised

Please explain how selecting a defensive player that didn’t come in for a top 30 visit is “drafting blind.” I guess scouting at actual games, the East West Shrine, the Senior Bowl, attending the combine, and watching tape doesn’t count.

When Poles and Cunningham jump on a plane and attend a few college games in a day, are they closing their eyes once the ball is kicked off?

You want to know things like how their personality is, how they get along with people and how open they are to signing a contract with your team.
You don't want to bring in a headcase just because you liked staring at their ass in spandex.
It's a marriage not a one night fling.

I'm not saying it's a smokescreen... I definitely think they like him, but...

That wasn't you who I was replying to at all.

It was someone else who came up with a conspiracy theory to rationalize away what they don't want to happen.

I've really stopped caring. The Bears are going to do what the Bears do. It's one of those things I can't change. I sit back and watch.
We brought in Jeanty, he's on the table. He's also not falling to us.
That defensive player we brought in is on the table if all the offense we brought in is gone. The oline we brought in may be to not show his cards but more likely it's a ranking of players he wants with the #10.
If everyone we brought in is gone Poles is a moron for not bringing in enough options.

Lott has been a good player since he came out of high school. Dude showed up early at ASU as a player and then got the money to go to Tennessee. I think he'll be a steady player in the NFL 10 years much like Lawrence Guy was. He may never be a game wrecker but he'll be an average NFL player for many years.
My only concern with him is he has years of injury issues that kept him from fully realizing his potential.
