There’s a ton of value in round 2. They can get good football players at 39 and 41.
If they have to give up a 2 to get an actual blue chip player vs 3 mid level guys, I would understand.

I'd rather have an actual first level talent plus a second round talent vs 3 second round talents.

They may risk drafting someone at 10 that grades out at a second round.

Miller says if Jeanty is there at ten, draft him. Otherwise, he says stick and pick Kelvin Banks Jr. his number one OT. He likes Loveland too. (Yikes!).

Except the only blue chip players worth going up for are Carter or hunter and those teams likely aren't trading those picks. Unless you want to trade up for jeanty but that feels like a bad use of resources. I guess Graham although I'm not entirely sure that nolen isn't better than him.

Nah, they can get a guy with a first round grade at ten even if he’s not a “blue.”

There are supposed to be 12-14 players with 1st round grades and none of them are QBs.

That math favors the Bears at ten.

Plus, Grant might be a better fit for the Bears than Graham. I’m not convinced Graham will be a better pro than Grant.

39 and 41 doesn’t get a blue chip prospect though. in this specific draft when you get into the teens the grades flatten out fairly significantly all the way up until like pick 50. 15-50 are surprisingly close in draft grades so trading up doesn’t really help you at all. You’d rather have more picks.

You’d rather have more picks in any scenario, So I don’t really get this whole “you actually don’t even want a bunch of picks this draft” thing I just read. Maybe if the draft is super weak and you feel comfortable enough to trade for future picks because the next draft is deep. Or some scenario like that. That’s rare and most teams aren’t in a position to do that though.

I forget where I saw it (maybe this thread) but saw someone say tyleik Williams is a better player than grant currently just doesn't have the upside. I was surprised to read that. I really like both of those guys at DT

maybe 30% and Poles is at a whopping 0%

For whatever reason the bears have always been awful in the 3rd round. Poles, Pace, Emery, JA…they’ve all been terrible. I think the last and one of the only good 3rd round picks for the bears was David Montgomery and they traded up for him. Just been abysmal in that round across multiple regimes for whatever reason.

I like Williams too but Grant is an absolute freak waiting to get unlocked by the right coaching staff. Plus, he is already a productive player.

Maybe, will they be positions of need or want however?

I'd rather give up a second and get a better chance of drafting a difference maker.

Bears need difference makers.

If this were the case no one would ever trade up.....

“Starters draft” sounds like some made up bullshit because they don’t want to just directly say the draft isn’t very good.

What draft are most 2nd rounders not considered starters?

Thats what they keep saying. Not a lot of blue chip talent, but deep with starters. “You can get a solid starter in the 2nd round.” Isn’t that every draft though?
That's the whole point of what I'm saying. The person I quoted said it's "thin in starters" and I disagree. I think there should be 3 starts, minimum from this draft. That's reasonable in any draft. I'm not calling it a special draft. I'm more so saying it's not as bad as people are saying it is.

The Raiders are kind of a mystery. At first, I thought they were dead set on Jeanty, but the more openly they talk about it, the more I question whether or not they're just trying to get a team to jump in front of them so they can take Graham or one of the offensive lineman.

I could also see them targeting a CB. Carroll took Witherspoon in the top 10 a couple years ago. We know he's big on the secondary, and the Raiders are in dire need of help there, too.

It's been 3 years. It would just take Kiran to hit and there's the 30%. Obviously, the first two suck, but you're over-thinking a small sample size. You're not even considering position. Like how many of those 30% are RBs, safeties, and LBs? Those are "easy" to hit on in the 3rd. Poles took a WR, LT, and DT, which are relatively more difficult to hit in the 3rd. If he took a RB, LB, and safety, probably 2 of 3 of them are "starters".

Lol at Joe schoen still having a job and wanting to get rid of all his top picks.

Having said that, I'd take Neal and thibodeaux for a 3rd probably.

I'm a little surprised tyreek isn't on that list
