I agree. All this Membou love is fine but I haven’t really heard a NFL talent evaluator say he can definitely play LT. Maybe I missed it. We have a RT and a RG that should be here for a while.

Banks will be a LT.
Heck, even Banks has question marks in terms of playing LT. Brugler is one example who has him listed as a guard in The Beast.

It’s crazy that there’s not a single LT prospect that everyone can agree on.

From Bucky Brooks on players you should not overthink…

“Kelvin Banks Jr.
Texas · OT · Junior

Perhaps Banks' lack of sizzle hurts him in a class that is loaded with athletic freaks. The Texas standout is a classic blind-side protector with the balance, body control and agility to shadowbox QB hunters off the edge. In addition, Banks is an effective box-out blocker in the run game who shields and stalemates defenders at the point of attack. With the 6-5 1/8, 315-pounder nimble enough to skip-pull and scoot to the second level, Banks is the prototypical left tackle who has flourished in the league for decades. Though others might look better in drills, few can match his production and performance in pads.”

I believe it’s good advice.

Yeah, I can’t make up my mind on Banks. For every positive blurb I read about him, I read something like this:

There is some debate whether or not he translates best to tackle or guard at the next level, and some of his physical deficiencies have shown through this season. For one, he is not asked to set at depth a ton, and when he does his foot speed is a bit slow. This showed up big time against Georgia in the regular season.

Here is what Thorn had to say on a potential Banks tumble:

These concerns stem primarily from shaky recovery skills that result in him being manipulated out of position by skilled rushers who know how to set up their moves and struggling to get himself out of compromising positions.
Banks has made plenty of big blocks in the run and screen game this season while largely being solid as a pass protector, which has been enough to rack up accolades (Outland and Lombardi awards) but has left something to be desired for his projection to the pro game, with lingering questions on whether he can stick at tackle or would be best served kicking inside to guard.

I’m hoping for Kelvin Banks Jr myself. If not him then the best pass rusher. I’m not going to be upset with Jeanty or Warren though if available. They could also trade down and I’d be happy, or trade up and get Carter that sounds good.

This draft is wide open I’m usually very opinionated but I’m chill this year. Just going to hang out at nbc sports in city walk and drink some eagle rare like every year.

I think he’s a LT personally, and prob top 2 this draft….i just don’t think any of the LT prospects are going to be elite in the NFL….see him more as top 15ish/league average

Quick question for the room...

Why is no one talking about the two most interesting tidbits I found out about recently in the "Beast"?

#1 Will Cambell has had a ton of flags over the last couple of seasons: 14 flags with 7 false starts.

#2 Ashton Jeanty has had a lot of fumbles: 5 last season (one called back for penalty) and 9 in the last two seasons.

We probably won't hear about them at all until right after the Bears draft one of them I'm sure.

So we are taking a guy at #10 who is basically braxton jones. Good to know.

Most people know about #2 but dont mention it.

Its always been an issue of his, but a lot of it is because he has great "contact balance". As in he's not going down but then guys are trying to strip the ball.

I dont think it will be as much of an issue in the NFL because he's not going to have the same contact balance/broken tackle plays in the nfl.

Still not a fan of taking him at #10 but i wont cry if it happens. Likely the difference between him vs. a 2nd round RB in this class behind the bears OL is not that large.

Yup, I said the same thing some pages back. People seem to be mostly positive, but then just say he's most likely a guard. But, Thorn projecting him as a guard is what's really set my expectations of him being unable to be an elite LT.

I don't think they Bears will take Banks anyway... they'd have brought him in for a 30 visit. Unless he shows up in the next 2 days, you can basically cross him off.

That would actually be pretty useful for us, given Jones situation. League average LT aren't cheap. But maybe they think they have something in Kiran. I have no read on him outside of him being a massive human being.

They can't tear apart every prospect in this draft or there's nothing to even look forward to.

Btw, here's McShay's OL board.

So Jeanty, Hampton, Johnson will have visited.
Bears are most definitely taking a RB with one of their top 3 picks, Ben needs his new weapon.
So they're taking Henderson?

Because teams think they are correctable.

Tiki Barber was known to fumble a lot. Coughlin tweaked his technique on how he would carry the ball and helped him reduce fumbles.

Same with penalties for Orlando Pace, Zach Martin, and John Hannah.

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t.
