With regard to the exact statements you made that I had previously quoted in this thread - are able to admit those were projections?

Yes or no. 0 additional text is needed.
You are a funny dude.
‘On pace’

‘Works out to’

Seems like these 3 statements are all projections to me.
Correct and you claiming the Bears should have played Borom because he would have been the better choice is a projection.

I already said you were correct they are projections. I simply explained that was not the part of the statements I was referring to. You quoted statements that contained data and projections. My comment about it not being a projection or hypothetical was in reference to the data you quoted. The point was the data is not a hypothetical and per the data Borom was worse.

The second round trade with Buffalo could end up being a significant factor for the Bears moving forward. It was obvious from the 1920 Football Drive video that they had two definite targets in mind after selecting Burden, and those targets were Trapilo and Turner.

It was interesting watching them work their board and find a trade partner that could provide the picks they needed to secure both of them.

Here are the trade details via SI:

“Chicago traded the Nos. 41, 72, and 240th picks to Buffalo for the Nos. 56, 62, and 109th picks.

Translation? The Bears slid back 15 spots with their second second-round pick and moved up from their high-third-rounder to No. 62, which is the second-to-last second-round pick. The jump from 240 to 109 is massive as well.”

Roushar and Dennis Allen both seemed thrilled with those selections.

Also, it sure looked like Randel El was pumped after the Burden pick.
I’m bumping this because I do see this as the critical juncture of the Bears’ draft. If Ozzy and Turner end up as significant contributors (with Ozzy potentially starting at LT), this trade in retrospect will be considered brilliant.

This week, Ozzy gets his turn.

Rookie on Caleb’s blindside

Last week, Kiran Amegadjie was the Bears’ starter at left tackle during their open practice inside the Walter Payton Center. This week, it was second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo. Darnell Wright was at right tackle.

“We’re moving guys around,” Johnson said. “We want to give everyone an opportunity, so, you know, Darnell, we feel pretty comfortable keeping him (on) the right side right now. So the left side until we get Braxton (Jones) back in the mix, it’s going to be a little bit of musical chairs.”

Jones, though, is weeks away from returning after his 2024 season ended with ankle surgery. It’s also notable that Wright has remained on the right side.

“We’re going to let the plan play out, which is keep him there for the time being and let these guys battle it out on the left side,” Johnson said. “And we can decide to change course whenever we need to.”

I'm guessing jones still starts week 1. At least they have some depth and a backup plan if jones is not the same or gets hurt again

To be honest i have no idea who will be the Bears starting LT week one. I see this as a true camp battle and any one of the three could win it. Let the best player win!
That’s absolutely the way it should be too.

I cant honestly say right now who the LT will be...

I think that is a good thing. It needed competition. I expected them to draft in round 2 or 3 for a LT candidate and they did so.

Hopefully they find their long term solution, because its not Jones.

If Jones winds up as starter then I look for them to draft a LT in round one next year or make a whack ass trade.

Well probably not Jones if you put him on an island 67% of the time and Caleb's time to throw is over 3 seconds. Will have to see if it is Jones if he is on an island as much as Taylor Decker ie around 50% of the time and if Caleb's time to throw is around 2.7 seconds.

Jones isn’t an all pro, but the disrespect from local media and some fans is baffling. He’s at worst an average starting LT and quite possibly above average. The only real way you upgrade is by landing a pro bowl/all pro caliber LT, which is extremely difficult.

I think optically Bears fans hate how bad Jones looks when he is bull rushed. Meanwhile Wright lets a dude just blow by him untouched but because he got beat so effortlessly and clean it is treated as "shit happens" sometimes.

“Colston Loveland, the standout tight end from Michigan, has caught early attention. A former Mackey Award semifinalist, Loveland is known for his ability to exploit mismatches and create yards after the catch.

According to CLLCT.com, a sports and culture platform that tracks fan engagement and merchandise trends, Loveland currently ranks No. 9 on the rookie jersey sales list, making him the highest-ranked tight end. He edges out Tyler Warren from Penn State, who sits at No. 10. This early merchandise momentum reflects the growing anticipation and excitement surrounding the rookie tight end.”

What position do you think the Bears go in round 1 next year?
I think Edge will be the front runner.

Players like TJ Parker, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Keldric Faulk, LT Overton, Rueben Bain, and Maytayo Uiagalelei should get consideration because they all pretty much have the physical characteristics that Dennis Allen covets.

I felt like Dennis-Sutton was really starting to ascend last season and played well in the college football playoffs. Plus, Penn State is turning into an Edge factory.
