I’m bumping this because I do see this as the critical juncture of the Bears’ draft. If Ozzy and Turner end up as significant contributors (with Ozzy potentially starting at LT), this trade in retrospect will be considered brilliant.The second round trade with Buffalo could end up being a significant factor for the Bears moving forward. It was obvious from the 1920 Football Drive video that they had two definite targets in mind after selecting Burden, and those targets were Trapilo and Turner.
It was interesting watching them work their board and find a trade partner that could provide the picks they needed to secure both of them.

“Chicago traded the Nos. 41, 72, and 240th picks to Buffalo for the Nos. 56, 62, and 109th picks.
Translation? The Bears slid back 15 spots with their second second-round pick and moved up from their high-third-rounder to No. 62, which is the second-to-last second-round pick. The jump from 240 to 109 is massive as well.”

Bears OTA takeaways: Why Ben Johnson worked with Caleb Williams on body language
Our observations from Halas Hall include rookie Ozzy Trapilo protecting Williams' blindside as he alternates with Kiran Amegadjie.

Rookie on Caleb’s blindside
Last week, Kiran Amegadjie was the Bears’ starter at left tackle during their open practice inside the Walter Payton Center. This week, it was second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo. Darnell Wright was at right tackle.
“We’re moving guys around,” Johnson said. “We want to give everyone an opportunity, so, you know, Darnell, we feel pretty comfortable keeping him (on) the right side right now. So the left side until we get Braxton (Jones) back in the mix, it’s going to be a little bit of musical chairs.”
Jones, though, is weeks away from returning after his 2024 season ended with ankle surgery. It’s also notable that Wright has remained on the right side.
“We’re going to let the plan play out, which is keep him there for the time being and let these guys battle it out on the left side,” Johnson said. “And we can decide to change course whenever we need to.”
To be honest i have no idea who will be the Bears starting LT week one. I see this as a true camp battle and any one of the three could win it. Let the best player win!

Well probably not Jones if you put him on an island 67% of the time and Caleb's time to throw is over 3 seconds. Will have to see if it is Jones if he is on an island as much as Taylor Decker ie around 50% of the time and if Caleb's time to throw is around 2.7 seconds.
Jones isn’t an all pro, but the disrespect from local media and some fans is baffling. He’s at worst an average starting LT and quite possibly above average. The only real way you upgrade is by landing a pro bowl/all pro caliber LT, which is extremely difficult.
I think optically Bears fans hate how bad Jones looks when he is bull rushed. Meanwhile Wright lets a dude just blow by him untouched but because he got beat so effortlessly and clean it is treated as "shit happens" sometimes.
I think Edge will be the front runner.
PSU has really produced some good Edge players over the years. Knowing my teams have a jinx on them, we're going to end up with Michael Haynes again.
I’ll be interested in watching them this season. They play a hard nosed brand of football and are returning both of their RBs.
I think this is just the time of the year when every piece of info coming out is positive unless you're doing drugs on a boat. I think I've seen videos of every QB in the league throwing completions, and every one of them is ready for an amazing year based on throwing balls in shorts.
That was a great play on the ball.. but he was a little beat there. Note though that it's extremely hard to cover horizontal routes. From the defensive perspective, you can be faster than the guy across from you but for some reason if you're running horizontally (ie a crossing-route), all it takes is for a half-step and they're open; maybe because you have to worry about them turning up field? I dunno. But if that receiver catches the ball cleanly, while he's probably going to get tackled, there is a chance he can scoot past on the outside.
