Okay but you called him a failed 3rd round pick in the post i replied to so that's all i had to go off of and i can't see any other way of taking calling him a failed pick other than you already making your decision on Kiren.

I agree with this post though.
I mean, failed after a year, it's early. But playing vs the competition he did in college for only 22 games and redshirting and shitting the bed in his NFL play so far isn't a great outlook.

We should not take a WR in this draft, it is a weak class. I'm also not a big fan of Stewart at #10.

at 10 I understand there are only a handful of true, blue-chip players. If any are there at 10, take that person no matter the position. Can always pick up a T to compete with one of the two second round picks.

Actually, I was thinking that a bit with the news of him not having some good interviews. Those could be situations he's walking into and hoping not to be drafted there. They openly talked about him not playing for some organizations a year ago, so it wouldn't shock me at all. Nothing to do with hating the process though... that's too much. He's not trying to make statements. He's just probably trying to ensure he's going somewhere he wants to be.

A FCS school rookie coming off an injury and no camp reps with those coaches? I'll need to see him take a few snaps this year before I come to any personal conclusions.

I think that if they tale OL, it won't be a T unless it's BPA at 10 and even then, I have my doubts. I think they're more likely to go DL or trade down and go DL/ RB/ or a TE that can fill the slot roll.
They just met with connerly today

Bears need real competition, not 3rd round injured projects.
1) Is Amegadjie injured right now? isn't he in an off-season conditioning program right now? Wasn't last season supposed to be a redshirt year so he could get healthy and compete for a starting job in 2025?

2) Aren't most rookie third round prospects considered a project to be developed? How many third-round trench players actually hit the ground running and offer serious competition to veteran starting in front of them?

The last few days I’ve heard him connected with the Giants.

I wonder if there's a precedence for someone who was so unproductive with sack numbers turning it around in the NFL. I get there are pressures, but we want the whole package at 10.

That’s the issue, the Bears drafted another injured player in an early round. You better hope your third round pick can offer serious competition in year 2. The draft will tell us all. If Poles drafts another OT early on he clearly isn’t satisfied with Jones or Kiran.

I said it before, I’ll be happy to eat crow if I’m wrong. But I don’t think an injured OT was the best choice in rd 3 last year.

From Lieser of the Sun Times on the draft today:

“The need at left tackle is obvious. Not only did three-year starter Braxton Jones struggle last season, but he’s also going into the final season of his rookie contract.

If the Bears are committed to Jones for the long run, they need to feel confident paying him starting left tackle money. The top 16 left tackles in the NFL are earning an average between $13.5 million and $28.1 million per season on their current deals.

By drafting a left tackle like LSU’s Will Campbell, Missouri’s Armand Membou, Texas’ Kelvin Banks or Ohio State’s Josh Simmons, it’s likely the Bears will get an upgrade now and save money the next few years. Whoever they pick at No. 10 will get a predetermined contract paying about $6 million per year through 2028 with a team option for ’29.

There’s a lot of debate about the offensive tackles in this draft, but the Bears likely will have second choice of the group. If Poles and coach Ben Johnson believe in Banks or Simmons, both of whom have slipped toward the middle or end of Round 1, they have the luxury of trading back and stockpiling more assets while still getting the player they need.”

If he was a serious red-shirt candidate they should have PUP'ed him for the whole season. I personally am extremely skeptical of his ability to make it in the NFL.

I remember the year the Packers drafted Clifton (LT) in the 2nd and Tauscher in the 7th (RT) and both started day 1 and never looked back.

If they draft a tackle early, I hope they consider kicking him inside.

Wasn't Danielle Hunter not a big sack guy in college? Now he's the 2nd highest paid DE in the NFL.

I realize it was just a glimpse and he really should not have been playing, but he looked ok run blocking but a little baffled being out on the edge.

If he can show he belongs at OT, that’s great but I think kicking inside might make him a viable NFL player quicker.

There are just so many excellent options this year. It is the best position group in this draft by a wide margin. That’s why 10 is too rich for me.

For me it is also, just like a lot of other fans here................BUT we really have to remember just who the Bears HC is, where he came from and how the Lions build their offense. Lions were built from the trenches out, then added the QB, WR's, TE, and RB's. Basically, the first thing Ben Johnson said was the Bears had to overhaul the OL; three new very good starters were added, with the QB, WR's and TE already in place. The last piece to his offense may be that 1st round level RB. Just following the breadcrumbs here but if Jeanty is at ten he is a Bear, if not it may be Hampton who with 35 days till the draft is rising as fast as any prospect.
