If Kiran becomes a good player in year 2 or 3 that’s a huge win. (Especially at OL which takes a while to develop)
Every rounds picks fail, stop using that as a crutch. Poles has found NO ONE in the 3rd round in 3 years. Pickens, Kiran and VJJ. It's awful. It shouldn't be 0-3 in the 3rd.

3 round mock from CBS Sports posted yesterday:

“Round 1 - Pick 10
Shemar Stewart DL
TEXAS A&M • JR • 6'5" / 267 LBS
PROJECTED TEAM
Chicago
PROSPECT RNK
23rd
POSITION RNK
3rd
The Bears have one super-long, highly talented edge in Montez Sweat. They get another with Stewart, who has loads of untapped potential.

39. Chicago Bears: Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa

41. Chicago Bears: Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State

72. Chicago Bears: Barrett Carter, LB, Clemson

So in your opinion if a 3rd round pick doesn't look good in 1 game in his rookie year after missing all of training camp and preseason and not playing up until that 1 game then he's a failed pick?

I didn’t say that at all. I hope he turns out to be the best player ever drafted. I just wouldn’t go into a year counting on him to be my swing tackle or potential starter at LT.

I completely agree. He needs to have a great camp and even if he does, I’d love to see an alternative option to him being the swing OT.

Okay but you called him a failed 3rd round pick in the post i replied to so that's all i had to go off of and i can't see any other way of taking calling him a failed pick other than you already making your decision on Kiren.

I agree with this post though.

I think it’s the least inspiring use of those picks I’ve seen.
It’s awful. Stewart screams bust to me and Kaleb is one of the most overrated RBs this draft along with judkins

I dont know which pick I hate worse, Noel at 41 (love the player, but bears have no business taking him at 41) or offball LBer at 72 that may or may not be able to replace Edmunds after a season. Theres no way either of those players are bigger needs than OL/DT/S or even better players than whats available at those positions of bigger needs. I can at least follow Shemar and Kaleb logic although they are the players i dislike the most at their position/draft point. Thats at least personal preference and wtf do i know, but I think 41 and 72 in that mock would be immediate received as "wtf was Poles thinking?" picks.

I do like J.Noel though and not sure he'll be there at pick #72 so i can get behind that pick but i have 2 or 3 other players/positions i'd draft there over WR.

Edit: actually there's more than 2 or 3 players i'd draft over Noel/WR but 2 or 3 position at least.

A day 1 impact player in the 3rd is definitely the exception...

Don't love Noel at 41. I actually like Higgins more. Maybe he's not as good of a fit in this offense though, but then I'd probably look at Royals in the 3rd instead.

I slightly disagree that a player taken in the 3rd that takes 3 years to be good constitutes a good draft pick. No. Round 6? Sure.

It wasn’t just that Kiran didn’t play in the FBS. He played in the Ivy League. That’s many steps below even other FCS competition. Plus the injury.

There are tons of players who need time to develop. But most of them at least look like they belong if they get thrust into action. Kiran did not. He didn’t look anywhere close to belonging on any team’s 53-man roster.

I hope he turns it around, but relying on just him to be a swing T would be a huge mistake.

It was a very poor draft pick, imo.
