OkBecause he can?
Why do they “let” any quarterback run?
Let's go a step further: shouldn't the return team have to possess the ball in the endzone on a scrimmage kick in order for it to be a touchback? Why reward the offense with the ball at the 20?Ok, but using that scenario, EVERY time the offense goes backwards it benefits the D, when, other than this rule, is the offense penalized for going forward?
That's not due to change of possession, though. If the Bears offensive player steps out of the back of the end zone, with the ball never being loose or changing hands, it's a safety. The best answer is what the rule is. Let me give you another scenario: Bears are on their own 1 yard line, and a shotgun snap goes over Watson's head and rolls out of the back of the endzone. Should the defense not be awarded that 2 points for a safety? They never touched it, never made a tackle, it was a mistake completely by the offense.
So why award the safety in that scenario, but not the touchback in the other endzone?
We all understand the end zone is unlike the rest of teh field when it coems to scoring. But nothing you have said makes the case for turning the ball over to the team that never possessed it or in many cases, even touched it.Let's go a step further: shouldn't the return team have to possess the ball in the endzone on a scrimmage kick in order for it to be a touchback? The point being, the endzone has special rules, because it's the one that gives you points. You don't want to give the ball up for a touchback? Then hold onto the ball.
We dodged a bullet not drafting this injury-prone QB.Mahomes is out
Agreed. Dude sucks. I've been saying it since day 1.We dodged a bullet not drafting this injury-prone QB.
Even WITH a concussion he'd be better than what we have had.Agreed. Dude sucks. I've been saying it since day 1.
So Pace IS a genius. He told us so.We dodged a bullet not drafting this injury-prone QB.
They're very comparable. It's about possession of the ball in the endzone. That's not due to change of possession, though. If the Bears offensive player steps out of the back of the end zone, with the ball never being loose or changing hands, it's a safety.
These aren't comparable.
Because it's the defense's goal. If the ball is loose in your opponents goal, and your action (or as we in the biz call it "force") put it there and it rolls out of bounds, why should you get the ball back?We all understand the end zone is unlike the rest of teh field when it coems to scoring. But nothing you have said makes the case for turning the ball over to the team that never possessed it or in many cases, even touched it.
