I'm only about little over halfway through and the Hawks definitely look good but like others have said I can't tell if the blues are just that bad right now in this game or if the Hawks are refreshed and rejuvenated

I am completely blanking. Is Seabrook opting out or hurt or something? They just going to scratch him?

I'm not sure whose call it was but I heard him in an interview saying he's dedicating himself to being ready to play at a high level next season. Lol, that would be a major shock in itself. So apparently, he's out for the season.

Can remember if he had gotten some sort of minor surgery or something to fix a thing that could have kept him out till next season

I didn't think the Hawks would be as sharp as they were and they definitely had more jump than the Blues did. Crawford didn't really get tested much, but it was good to see him in some game action. Dach looked good and Kubalik is a stud. In a short series refreshed and ready to go could be what they need.

Now they just have to take care of Connor McJesus and that other guy. It'll be a little tougher than a bored Blues team but I think they'll be okay.

Connor and Leon need to be contained if the Hawks have any chance of moving past this series.

Seabrook had the shoulder surgery DeHaan had, but then had work done on both hips. Most were surprised he was even skating, let alone ready to play NHL pace hockey. The video I saw said he was not ready to play the way he needs to play.

If he is ready to move on, then trying to get back on the ice was as much for other teams than it was to show us fans that he was making the effort.

What a game by crow after 3 practices. I don't know if he is going to be taking that 3 million people expect him to take.

Looks like a different team. Could be a disinterested Blues team but the Hawks defensive coverage and special teams have been.....well, special. They have a far better chance to do some damage than I ever thought possible. They have a shot.....not only to beat the Oilers but to get deep into the tournament.

The Hawks did look good, I was quite surprised. Personally, I'm still not exactly ready to think they can beat the Oilers, but there was a lot to like about this game. I do think the Blues were just going through the motions though, whereas the Hawks took it more seriously since they're about to begin their series with Edmonton. Quite honestly, the Blues shouldn't have even been there. I don't think they generated more than 2 Grade-A scoring chances all game, and that was only when Subban was immediately put in -- the entire Blues team was pretty much invisible all game. Was that all because of the Hawks defense? I'd say no, I think it was more because the Blues simply had nothing to play for in this game.

That said, I still think the Hawks can win, and I'm rooting for that. Anything can happen with this layoff. Hell, we had upsets left and right last playoffs, and that was a normal year without a huge layoff in the middle. I can't say all my worries about the Hawks are gone after this one game, but they did look better than I thought they would.

Here's the thing: if you have two solid top lines and a decent top-four D, you have a chance. Do the Hawks have that? I'd say they have two top lines, but their top four is still iffy.

The one person I was disappointed in was Debrincat. Guy was pretty much invisible the entire game. Highmore was meh also. De Haan taking multiple penalties -- however ticky-tack, especially the one "hold" -- was also disappointing.

Subban saw Grade-A chances, but Crow really didn't, which I was hopeful he would. Nevertheless, his puckhandling looked solid and will obviously be key for the Hawks.

Back, knee, vag... Am I missing any?

He had major surgery on his right shoulder and both of his hips -- so I was actually stunned to hear he was practicing, considering that's a ton to come back from.

Basically, he participated fully in training camp, but said he wasn't completely healed. He was testing to see if his injuries had healed, and realized they hadn't and that he didn't feel 100% -- so he made the decision to sit out until next year (like Shaw with his concussion).

I am hearing many reports that Seabs is ready to move on from the Hawks. With 4 years and 6.8million per not sure anybody would take that contract. This is on Stan for handing him the brinks truck.

Yeah HIM -- Seabrook made it more than obvious in his exit interview from training camp a few days ago. It's obvious he's unhappy; and it's obvious he hates Colliton (which I can't blame him -- if I was a 3 time Cup winner and I had some guy who barely sniffed the NHL trying to tell me how to play, I'd hate him too).

Anyways, I think he's more than open to moving his NMC after hearing that interview. I know it's a big contract to move, but I remember when we all thought Campbell's contract was immovable, and voila. Maybe the Hawks might have to take back some salary, but at this point and after hearing his interview, it's a safe bet to think he will be gone next year.

The way I looked at it was that the layoff kind of leveled the field, so I thought the Hawks had a slim chance. After last night, I'm upgrading from slim to a decent chance. If Crow plays like Crow, it might be even higher. There was a lot to like, I mean even that idiot KoKo looked like an NHL dman. I really like what I'm seeing in Dach....he's now playing on both Special Team units, PP and PK along with his 3rd line duties. If he can handle it, that would be a big addition. I'm actually looking forward to this series now.

Hips, that was it, not knees. I remember surgeries but had forgotten it's all in the hips... it's all in the hips.

I thought they were quarantining 14 days when they got there, I guess they are confined to the bubble since some teams will be gone before 14 days.

Colliton Reveals Lineup For Game 1 Versus Oilers.

The Chicago Blackhawks play the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1 of their qualifier best of five series this afternoon.
You can catch the game starting at 1PM on NBC.
Goalie Corey Crawford gets the start and he's looking to keep momentum rolling after shutting out the St. Louis Blues in the team's only exhibition game earlier this week.
Head coach Jeremy Colliton revealed his projected lineup against the Oilers this afternoon.
What do you think of the Hawks lineup?
Dominik Kubalik — Jonathan Toews — Brandon Saad
Alex Nylander — Dylan Strome — Patrick Kane
Alex DeBrincat — Kirby Dach — Drake Caggiula
Ryan Carpenter — David Kampf — Matthew Highmore
Adam Boqvist — Duncan Keith
Calvin de Haan — Connor Murphy
Olli Maatta — Slater Koekkoek
Corey Crawford

So what’s the plan for shutting down McDavid? Can’t have Toews dedicate his whole game to defense since him and Kane are the best offensive players on the roster.
