Tonight, yes Van was flying and SJ (Eager in particular) completely lost composure. 5 pp goals? Laughable.

Game 1 was quite different. Classic choke.

Toews was right though. This Vancouver team is "beat-able;" however, I'm not sure there is a defense remaining good enough to deal with them.

I wonder if Tampa might have the best shot at freezing the tempo to a snail's pace with enough of an offensive punch to put them away.

I will vomit every time I have to see or hear these pukes referred to as champions if they pull it off.

Game 1... a lot of analysts were saying San Jose ran out of energy in the 2nd and just couldn't keep up. Easy cop out, but I could buy that. Watching it, it didn't have the feel of a serious choke job... just a combination of the sharks looking gassed and vancouver deciding to take control. I dunno.

You make a good point about Tampa. Defense is key, but a strictly defense first approach clearly doesn't work against Vancouver. They're just too talented and eventually they're going to get pucks in the net. If Nashville couldn't successfully shut them down- nobody will. But look at the success the Hawks had... it was by scoring early, converting on powerplays, smart, offensive play from their defensemen as well as great defensive play against the twins. Like you said, of all the teams left, Tampa seems most equipped to do that. Even if they falter defensively... they have so much skill up front that they could be able to overwhelm Luongo.

And yeah... I can't believe how badly I want Vancouver to lose. I can't recall hating a hockey team this much.

"We've seen that before with Kevin," said Ben Eager. "It's sad that someone's gonna sign him for big money when he's a phony. He goes after our top players. He's been asked many times, by lots of players throughout the League (to fight), and he's declined."

Added Ryan Clowe: "Bieksa obviously thinks he's a tough guy. He fights sometimes and he picked his spot pretty good there."
VANCOUVER — Ryane Clowe never liked Maxim Lapierre.

No, really. The two were teammates in junior, playing 48 games together with the Montreal Rocket during the 2002-03 season and even then, they never got along. So you have to know there was a was a little bit of history being discussed during a meeting between the Sharks winger and Canucks centre late in Vancouver's 7-3 win over San Jose at Rogers Arena on Wednesday.

Clowe received a roughing penalty and a 10-minute misconduct after getting in the face of the Canucks' agitator, who continues to impress with his gritty two-way play through the first three rounds of the playoffs.

Clowe even went so far as to call Lapierre a coward in the moments following Game 2 of the Western Conference final.

“I wouldn't have asked him to fight because I knew he wouldn't go,” said Clowe. “He was shaking his gloves at [Logan] Couture. I didn't go jump him, I said 'I'll go you,' but I wasn't expecting him to go. I know what he's like.”

Some quotes from Eager & Clowe on Bieksa & Lapierre.

Sharks win 4-3. Bieksa took a penalty towards the end.

How fitting. He should try & fight the beer vendors. Clear heavy weights.

Oh, SJ. Put up an 0-fer on the PP and give up 3 straight 5 on 3s in the span of under 2 minutes.

Now that's pissing a season away.

Yeah, that was absolutely pathetic on every level.

Though I was most disappointed by Niemi. He has not been sharp enough. If he played like this in last years Western finals, it's unlikely the Hawks would have advanced.

If Boston plays Vancouver in the Cup final, I wish there were a way for both to lose. Tampa's my last hope this year.
