recovering the thread from the asshat talk is very true, but should I rename it "cubs history thread" :) :) :)

Nah we ought to do that as a thread here though. I wouldn't want people to have to read the first 16 pages of this thread to get to this part. It is interesting idea though. Have people just bring up interesting stories and occurrences in baseball history.

That would be really tough to find. You can find a lot of the big clubs no problem like Mutual, Atlantic, Empire, etc., but I am not sure where you could find an actual complete listing of the NABBP.

at some point..nearly all threads get off topic

i still am a little perplexed that getting a high caliber free agent is a lock

what evidence is there to prove that? its not a lock unless the player has actually committed to the team(i.e. signed)

Fielder is going to get paid, and I doubt the Cubs have the money to do it, and the willpower to spend.

Based on the article in Sporting News, Fielder is going to sign with a team that can win a championship. That eliminates Baltimore, KC, Toronto, Seattle, Houston, Mets, and well ... Well ... I won't say it

I see a patch job nothing more this offseason. We probably make a play for Pujols or Fielder get outbid and pick up Pena to come back and some decent regulars to cover the holes enough where it looks like the team can contend. Other than that I think this might be like what the Sox did before. Were not gonna say were rebuilding but in reality were rebuilding.

So basically, 16 pages of CO vs. world, and then some history talk, and now Ramirez/Fielder talk again...

I read the first two pages. Then I posted from the op. Sorry I'm wasting your teenage life reading my posts.

so yes, lets get back to the topic boys!

Ok.

I remember when Kerry Wood got the save against the Cardinals and we clinched.

But but... it was in 2008.

Now we suck.

FML

I wish I could be like CO and not realize that, much more fun that way.

I thought this thread was about finances. I'm too lazy to read through it to find the relevant posts though :p
