Cubs Flaws:
We suck.

Hey, it's only 1 flaw that encompasses several others, awesome! But that actually equates to about 23 or so, probably more, flaws.

Then when I call you out on Rammy not producing in clutch situations, you respond with sample size. That's not right. 6 games were the playoffs and playoffs trump all.

So just because those games happened in the playoffs, that means that he isn't clutch? No. That's not right at all.

Ramirez for his career w RISP has a .928 OPS. But those 6 games matter more...

so 11 million per year, plus the 2 million dollar buyout is 13 million for next year. That is only 1.6 million less than we paid him this season...

Very good. You can do math.
You calling someone else's opinion ignorant?

Tom Brady had one bad game in the playoffs this year, that means he isn't clutch. Essentially that is what you are saying.

My point was that one season in the last 3 or so years doesn't necessarily determine whether it is consistent or inconsistent, I wasn't arguing for either side with that post.

Okay you are right 1 season in 3 doesn't prove a pattern. So here is his first half OPS for the past 5 years
2011-.843
2010-.648
2009-.875
2008-.901
2007-.913

Tom Brady's won 3 Super Bowls and was the Super Bowl MVP twice. That is the absolute worst comparison possible. :lmao:

Now we just need to factor in what the team's record was at the half-way point in the season and how many games he had played and see how it correlates.

And the second half OPS's to see if he really plays better in the second half than in the first half.

Best comparison, Roberto Luongo, but that wouldn't support CO's cause, lol.

All I ask is fans are honest about their team and their teams flaws. Some fans cannot do that do to their complex or whatever.

Again, a team with no flaws is contending right now. Period.

I am not sure if this is directed at myself or not. It seems whenever I say anything positive about this team or anything associated with it your response is that I am sheep, apologist, or oblivious to the problems of this team.

I have been critical about a number of flaws on this team. I've stated multiple things that I have a problem with most people in charge of making decisions in this organization and quite a few players. I've been honest about the terrible starting pitching and the need to fix that number 1. I've said that Jim Hendry needs to be replaced because of his reliance on old-school scouting baseball tools/athletes approach. I've talked at length about the Cubs problems with plate discipline and an organizational disregard for that. I've talked about the lack of impact talent at corner infield positions and starting pitching in the minors.

I guess I just don't understand why it seems to have to be one or the other. Everything is either entirely great or is entirely terrible.

Way to completely miss the point. A small sample size of games in the playoffs doesn't mean a player isn't clutch. Tom Brady is exactly the comparison I wanted. He is a great player, but he had one bad game, does that make him not clutch? No. Ramirez had 6 bad games, that doesn't make him not clutch. Different backgrounds, yeah, but the point is still the same. Don't just look at a small sample size to dictate whether or not he is clutch or not.

Tom Brady is great and clutch.

Aramiz Ramirez is decent, at best. Certainly not clutch. At all.

So, Aramis Ramirez is great now, huh?

To play Devil's Advocate... Brady has had several Hall of Fame caliber games in the playoffs... Aramis Ramirez has had 1.

It is interesting how everyone arguing ARam's playoff performances in 2007-08 are forgetting his performance in 2003: 11/44 7 BB... .250 BA/.353 OBP 4 HR 10 RBI 6 Runs in 13 games.... not to mention the series winning solo shot against the Braves in the NLDS, Game 2 winning shot in the NLCS, and 2 blasts in Game 4 of the NLCS (of course one was another game-winning blast).
