So let's rip the GM who got Cubs to playoffs 3 times in 7 years. No other Cub GM could say that sine 1908. With Hendry atleast I felt like team could contend. Does anyone think this team will contend now or even in next 3 years? I don't. I understand what they doing but asking fans to be patient while they get shit players is a joke. Either spend like Big Market or go young. Signing DeJusus, trading for 3B who couldn't hit his weight at Coors, does nothing. Play the kids over these piece of shit moves.

So what if the Trib didn't tell Hendry to go buy a contending team?

We probably would've had 2003. That's it.

Probably a new GM going into 2008'ish.. and probably still shitty.

What's your point? You don't know how to comprehend things?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
great you signing a superstar with a pile of shit surrounding him, how does that make your team better.

So Fielder replaces Penas numbers
you lost Aramis Ramirezs' numbers and are replaced with Ian Stewart

here is what you have around a possible Fielder

dejesus
stewart
castro
barney
byrd
soriano
soto

thats if no other deals are made. how are you a good team? 1 superstar bat doesnt make your team a division contender let alone a ws push.
I could see maybe it being a divisional contender, if the Cubs add 2 quality SP (Darvish, Saunders, E. Jackson)

What the Brewers do without Braun for about 60 games will be interesting.

What the Cardinals on offense will do without Pujols will be a big question.

The Reds can bounce back, and the Pirates on their way up.

I could see that Cubs competing in the division, but it isn't in the best interests of long-term success, and is certainly not a lock by any means.

Darvish isn't coming here bro..

The kids who they wouldn't mind wasting away are all 25 or older and suck. Starlin Castro is the exception.

The kids who we do want to see aren't MLB ready yet and Brett Jackson will probably not come up until mid-season to suppress his service time.

There aren't any kids to play that I can see at the moment. They could play Bryan LaHair, but that's no "kid".

Are you seriously trying to defend Hendry?

Hendry also oversaw some of the most dysfunctional and bad Cubs teams in squad history....which says a lot.

He also has some of the worst contract history of any GM in recent memory.

What the hell is your point?

Hendry was a complete Special person with money and contracts.

No other Cub GM could say that sine 1908

That means virtually nothing.....at all...for a host of reasons.

.

Which is hilarious because that's a direct cause of the terrible player development and signings of Hendry!

Are you mentally Special person?

Actually it's not. It's smart baseball and organizational planning

Something Cubs fans aren't familiar with so I wouldn't expect them to recognize.

I personally don't think a franchise should be built with fan interests in mind. It should be built to win over the long run. If they win, the fans will be interested anyway. If they built the Cubs with fan interests in mind we'd have been running lineups of Koyie Hills and Tony Campanas and Tyler Colvins in 2010 and 2011 and in retrospect, that just seems like a really really bad thing

Exactly. he's trying to defend Hendry but at the same time feels the this team(99.9% of which were brought in by Hendry) aren't able to compete for a WS..and is somehow displacing blame to Ricketts and Theo?

:rolling:

Most of the Cubs MiLB depth is at the AA level or lower. It will take time. AA and above they are "meh". I really like what they have in the lower levels. Especially in the OF.

Vitters, Jackson, Campana, etc. Going to lose 90+ with guys like Dejudus and Stewart might as well try to find building blocks with kids

I think they could've tried to keep Hendry as a scout or something. He seems to have a sixth sense about when he can trade crap to the Pirates for Aramis Ramirez and Tom Gorzelanny

Vitters can't take a walk to save his life and sucks at defense.

Already mentioned Jackson.

Campana is speedy but needs to get his ass on base first.

The point is that the building blocks are slim pickings and that's something the Cubs need to work on or else the team will always be top-heavy, expensive, and void of depth.

Campana is nothing more than a pinch runner.

Again.. having issues comprehending things.

Not ready. may never be.

Projects to a really solid OF'er. Not a franchise guy IMO. He will be up this year.

Bad.

I'm sorry but if your defense of wanting to play young guys now centers around Vitters, Jackson, and Tony fucking Campana then you really need to go away.

Trying to find building blocks with kids doesn't mean you have to throw them out there against MLB pitching and hitting. Operating your MiLB system like that is fuckign ridiculous.

Yeah let's just throw top prospects out there so if they fail they kill trade value so one day if we want to try and trade for a guy like Adrian Gonzalez we can't because everyone knows our young players can't play at the MLB level.

WUT?!!?

Man I'd really love to see us throw a bunch of shitty AA level players up against Carpenter..

Man we would be fucking awesome.

Agreed.

Because is they can't hit MLB pitching now. They will never be able to. Players don't progress. Might as well kill their trade value now.
