Great, great, great fucking team win.

Comeback from 20, tough D on Dame, big shot by Zach. Fun game to watch.

I like this Porter-Temple-Thad frontcourt Billy D went with at the end.
I know it was early, but that 20 point lead after them making little runs to get close but then getting blown back to double digits, almost had me turn it off as just another typical game especially with the players they had out. But I stuck in there cause it was still really early and decided it they can just get it close by half may they can do something. And boy am I glad I did. It of course was too close at the end, but that's the NBA. I don't hate Porter or Young but to me they have that old man rec league game that I thought would have them out there just going through the motions, but they really really seem to be buying in and battling hard. Now, i'll preface it with I haven't watched every game, but have watched a lot of the bulls this year, and am by no means an expert, but they seem to just... I don't know, have a better idea of what to do when they are out there? At least on offense. People don't seem as lost, or waiting for the ball so they can shoot.

Very nice win last night. That's the kind of game to show some promise for the team. All starters in double figures, balanced effort, ball movement was better at times.

Let's hope they build on games like this.

Also lowkey 4-1 since Barkley said they're the worst team so hey...they got some sort of fire under them.

If they call 5 seconds on the Warriors or the foul on Coby in that sequence, they are probably 5-3....

really nice to see Zach further asserting himself as a "don't **** with me" type superstar in this league. He's right there on the cusp of being one of those first tier guys and I'm sure the team itself is holding him back some, but hitting that three at the end was what the other league superstars do. It wasn't the dagger that it should have been but it very much got the job done and was exactly what they needed from their best player right there.

I don't mean this in a disparaging way because I think he's looked much better this year, but is it weird that I didn't miss Lauri? I could do with NO valentine, but I've always hated him. I was ready to be done with Hutch, but this season/pre-season I've seen a lot to like. Wendell seems to be in a much better place, but still not 100 on him. Gafford plays hard enough, we'll see. They still feel like a team that is just one play away from really being able to pull it together, but I don't know where you put that one player. Arch is Arch, Dotson I'm sure is a fine player but I hate on Principle. Felicio... I don't understand it but whatever. Kornet is.... a body. Sato is apparently destine to take over for Coby according the folks on here. Got no problem with Temple as a backup vet injury insurance type guy that gets minutes. Mokoka, I have no idea who this guy is but he's french it seems so **** him. Very small sample size and I've said it before but it's nice to see coaching and development happening instead of just insisting that these guys are all NBA and should be able to be smashed into whatever system the coach insists is best for them.

It’s a small sample size and kinda harsh to say, but maybe the bulls play better overall without lauri. They are certainly better defensively without him

If Coby can keep it up as his first year as a starting PG, he is on pace to mirror Derrick Roses first year in all stat categories as a starting PG but shooting 10% higher from 3pt range. Now from an eye test standpoint, Coby is no Derrick but still, this is his first year learning to be a PG in the NBA and he is doing just fine. Learning to be a PG is the hardest thing to learn. Here is some stats for for you to chew on and compare of PG's first year starting out.

Chris Paul:

GPGSMINFGFG%3PT3P%FTFT%ORDRREBASTBLKSTLPFTOPTS
787836.05.2-12.143.00.6-2.328.25.1-6.084.70.84.35.17.80.12.22.82.316.1

Derrick Rose:

GPGSMINFGFG%3PT3P%FTFT%ORDRREBASTBLKSTLPFTOPTS
818037.07.1-14.947.50.2-0.922.22.4-3.178.81.22.73.96.30.20.81.52.516.8

Russell Westbrook:

GPGSMINFGFG%3PT3P%FTFT%ORDRREBASTBLKSTLPFTOPTS
826432.55.3-13.439.80.4-1.627.14.3-5.281.52.22.74.95.30.21.32.33.315.3

Coby White in just 8 games as starting PG:

GPGSMINFGFG%3PT3P%FTFT%ORDRREBASTBLKSTLPFTOPTS
8833.65.5-14.537.92.6-7.336.22.8-3.384.60.64.85.45.40.10.32.33.116.4

This was a similar stat line for most of the best PGs in the league and even some of the greats their first year as starting PG. Lets just slow our roll and hope he improves every year and he does not regress. This year is a learning process. He is not going to be all world and will have some growing pains. Like I said, if he can continue learning his role and stay consistent, he will be our future PG and not just a 6th man/Ben Gordan type player.

The Bulls are already starting to see the benefit of hiring a real NBA coach. They would have been murdered in this game under Boylen.

I love the way Billy is mixing and matching his players. Also, it looks like the Bulls drafted a real nice player in Williams. The kid just looks so relaxed and under control and he’s only 19.

They are going to take their lumps from the better teams in the league but early on it seems like the Bulls really did this front office re-vamp the right way.

I’m actually looking forward to tonight’s game.

coby in 8 games still has a negative VORP. Meaning he is a below avg NBA guard currently. Don’t put him in the same breath as Chris Paul, Derrick rose, etc yet

I think its interesting how Minnesota kind of pulled a trick from our last regime's playbook and gave up on a player before he was fully developed. Levine is cementing himself as a star in this league. The only thing keeping the league from seeing this is that we are not winning yet. He is only 25 and should only be fresh out of college. At this moment 20m for this year and the next is a bargain cause he is so much better than a lot of the 54 players ahead of him that make more. I did not quote your second part but I think you are right about Lauri, he feels out of place in this offense and we might be better at this pace of play with small ball and WCJ at the 5. Williams has already looked the part as a small ball 4. He hasn't really taken a bad shot or tried to do too much and is letting the game come to him. Must say @Gustavus Adolphus, I may be glad to say I was wrong and I hope your right.

Trust me I am not, was just comparing some stats of first year PGs to prove its not easy to learn the position in their first year. Vorp wise, yes, Coby has a -0.2 right now after 8 games. Paul finished his first season at 5.2 VORP and Rose had 1.2, so we will have to wait till the end of the year and see. He has a bright future as long as the new regime doesn't screw up in developing him. I just don't get all the "he is not a starting point guard, or he is just a sixth man" talk 8 games into his starting PG role. Its not like he is Marquise Teague and he was a a decent PG on a loaded Kentucky team but Thibs had no intention on developing young talent during those days and ruined him early.

I just want to take issue with this one point, because I've been someone who has talked about Sato:

I'm not suggesting that he should be starting over White, I'm only saying that Sato is a better PG than White. FTR, I believe in a positionless offense.

bulls go through these spurts at the beginning of every year with their past coaches. meh start then they string some wins together then fall the eff off a cliff. not saying its going to happen again.

dont care they lost tonight. they need a pg, they need an actual modern center like mobley. let williams use these games as practice instead of assuming hes going to get better going at 70% in practice like everyone else is. I'd rather him go 2-15 shooting one night than to go 3-8 and be the fifth option in the offense.

he can dribble, he can shoot, he can drive. he needs to go against NBA competition to get better. watched him bring it up the floor the other night, didnt look like a stumbling future PF. Not saying to make him a point guard by any means. But he can clearly do more than stand in the corner 20 mins a night.

I get the coach thinks he has to win games and i get the FO doesnt want to pick 4th again. But I do, or high at least for one more year. And if this 4th pick is going to be part of your core he needs to be involved more.

I want to know what he is by the time hes 22 not by the time hes 26.
