The thing I like most so far is that they don't look overmatched at all. They can play with these guys.

That third goal was bad. That hurt. But a long way to go.

Maybe I spoke too soon.....not the same team here in the 3rd or more than likely Vegas is not the same team.

Actually, two very bad goals. Crawford should have absolutely stopped both of those, and it's a 2-1 game.
(And the announcers certainly thought that 2nd Vegas goal was offside)

Not sure what game you watched but the hawks looked overmatched across the board and the entire game.

If they continue to start lehner and crawford continues to play while drunk this one will end in 3 games.

Throw a curveball at them......you want to play out old goalie against us???....two can play that game.....boom....Subban starts!

Year of BLM so why not?

Hawks will be lucky to win 1 game this series with this kind of effort.

Yep they looked outmatched. They need guys like Cat to start producing points. Cat had zero shots on goal this game, lol.

most of the game Vegas looked slow and lethargic, they turned it on whenever they wanted. This was the game to steal. Could not believe Strome could not see Lehnar down and out with no blade when he had the puck behind the net and did not get someone a better shot.
My bigger concern was crow taking that shot square on his mask.

This will be opposite of our series with the Oilers.

Game 1 get our asses kicked.

Game 2 come out and kick some ass.

Game 3+ go back to being lazy and get fucking rekt.

I am becoming convinced the Hawks are simply now and older, slower, and lazier team, which, as a whole, doesn't give two fucks anymore.

I really think Hossa was the presence that unified all the talent on the team to work hard the majority of the time.

I don't think anyone stepped into that role (looking at you Toews) and so in general the team has had a laziness problem.

That Oiler series was a fun lucky bounce fest, but I think this team gets bounced real quick.

Crawford was good in the 1st...and then the wheels fell off. Bad game by him and he needs his head and ass wired together.

Kane is fucking pissing me off. We don't pay him 10.5M to give up on the backcheck, lollygag it, and argue with the refs when the play is still happening. He can show up any time he damn well pleases.

Debrincat/Strome/Nylander are lost causes at this point. Make them the 4th line and use them sparingly. They don't like it--tell them to do their fucking jobs.

Can you imagine how screwed we'd be if we were Columbus and had crow need to make 88 saves and play a couple games in one night... then lose, and have to bring out Suban.

Yep, Lehnard lost his skate blade not once but twice, Hawks needed to capitalize with least 1 goal there to regain momentum.

Yeah I thought this too after the first period. Other than that one dominant shift by Vegas (where they really took advantage of Dach and Boqvist), the first was pretty even -- but then, the Hawks looked every bit outmatched the rest of the game.

I feel like Vegas forced the Hawks to play Vegas' game in the first period, then dominated once they smelled blood. Even if the Hawks do an admirable job defensively (as they did in period 1), it won't matter if they can't generate any offense on the counterattack -- that's the difference between both teams, in my view. Vegas can do both: they can shut down defensively and also counter attack when the time is right. If the Hawks can't do that, they're done.

At one point I wouldn't have been worried--like the time Dr. Craw posted a 52-save shutout. Now though? Not sure. Since being ran by Malkin he's been schizo and this series more on the bad side.

The O is an issue; the only O we got was from Kampf last night. Toews and Saad came close and both have looked engaged, so I won't berate them on that. Kane needs to get his head and ass wired together, but I wonder how much of that is based on him being a primary target, and him carrying around Debrincat's carcass to boot. Someone mentioned no chemistry with Dach and I can see it, but I also wonder if part of that is Debrincat as well.

A major problem I've seen this "postseason" is that for guys like Boqvist, Strome, Debrincat, and Nylander, JC has been trying to shelter them within functional players, and unfortunately it torpedoes the line/paring. I think we just have to load up at this point and deal with bad lines/parings with limited icetime.

Yeah, such is life on a shallow team. I hate Colliton more than anyone as you know, but I can't really fault him for his forward line combos. I was for having Dach with Kane and Debrincat, but that line really hasn't done anything. There are just way too many uncertainties in the lineup -- even a guy like Kubalik, you really don't know what you're going to get out of him; one night he looks like a superstar, the next night he's completely invisible. Debrincat and Strome are in the same boat -- they look like world beaters not so long ago; now they are completely useless.

I agree you need to load up, especially on D -- I feel like I've been saying this for a while now. Boqvist shouldn't be on the top tandem; and at this point, I wouldn't mind seeing Dach on the third line. I know Strome has looked like shit for a while now, but there is literally no other option for center if you demote Dach. So maybe give him a shot with Kane and see if he and Debrincat can find magic again? I don't know -- our forward lines are just an utter mess, we don't have depth at all and there's no real answer. At this point, it's still trial and error.

The NHL posted the Blackhawks even with Keith, Crow, Toews and Kaner upping the age scale..they are the youngest team in the playoffs.

If anything they will get good experience here but regardless they just aren't a deep team due to the cap. Not having a player like Andrew Shaw hurts them as well cause he has goal scoring ability in the dirty areas and can bring sandpaper to his game which is required in the playoffs. It was a big gamble by Bowman to sign him tho due to his concussion/injury history.

They need guys like Boqvist to step up next year. He was touted as an offensive defenseman. Hawks will have Ian Mitchell to help the blue line next season. Cat has had a down year, he needs to rebound and Dach needs to show he can finish and score a few more goals.
