I’ve seen the movie too often where a franchise takes years to turn around, finally gets all the pieces, everything is great and then the QB goes down.

Just having a guy around who keeps you in the play-off picture if Fields goes down for 4-6 weeks…instead of blowing the season on a tight hamstring.

A bears fan should know this song.

Problem is it seems every new regime has to learn it themselves

Seimian is a solid enough backup to carry this team to a .500 record, maybe better depending on the schedule if fields goes down

Is the perfect antidote to this

People need to just stop with this low key attack on Fields. No. It is not a good idea to draft a top QB with your first round pick next year if you have Justin Fields. We have a backup. He‘s solid.

In order for us to get to a point where we worry about winning with the back up QB, we need to have the talent to field a competitive team. We need high draft picks for that.

It’s a convoluted argument that does not reflect an accurate understanding of real world value. In other words, the value of talent on a team that actually produces — a top WR; probowl LT; a DT that can read the gap, rush the gap, or be stout enough to control the OL; all require high draft picks and would improve the team more than the potential value of a dude on the bench. It’s a question of actual value vs. latent/potential value. So, quit the shit. It’s Fields until it isn’t.

Will you be doing an Offcail In Season thread (or similar) for the Regular season given the varying different levels of coverage the beat reporters give the Bears as well as the National media? Or will it all be spread out over various threads on the main page?

Either way @Dejo and @bears26 and others who have posted a lot of the socials through out the summer, it's been really handy for me for keep up to date with stuff. Appreciate the work. Much love.

I thought about it but most of that will probably be covered in weekly threads. Feel like the news might be a little slower then but I’ll consider it if you guys want to entertain another mega thread ?

Lol Jenkins always wants the smoke but I’m loving the culture change
I believe Jenkins is going to grow into a dominant offensive lineman. I saw him whiff badly on that first play last night (can't tell if it was he or Borom, but neither looked good on that first play). And he'll probably grade-out as a C+ that game, but as someone else stated, once he gets his hands on you, it's over. And it tells me something when the starting running back talks about how much he enjoys running behind a lineman.

I'm good with it, but can definitely understand people will want to talk things regular season in separate threads depending how the season shapes up.

See what the mods and the board say - a poll?

Anyway, thanks for your dedication.

Fields breakdown linky

Justin Fields gives Bears fans reason for hope in preseason finale

This summer has been filled with more questions than answers regarding the Chicago Bears, all of which point to the same theme.
Did they do enough this off-season to help their second-year quarterback?
Questions about the wide receivers. Questions about the offensive line. Questions about the offensive system. All adding up to the main idea of whether Chicago is truly invested in Justin Fields, or whether his time in Chicago could end sooner rather than later.
In the Bears’ preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns, Fields did his part to answer those questions on his own, and answered them in a positive way, giving Bears fans something they might have missed this off-season.
Hope.
Returning to the site of his first NFL start, a 6-for-20 effort against the Browns where he was sacked nine times, Fields threw three touchdown passes in the first half Saturday night, showing confidence and — perhaps more importantly — anticipation.
After punting on their opening possession, the Bears’ offense started to move the football. Fields was confident on the second drive, and you saw that on this connection with Dante Pettis on a Hank concept. Fields makes the throw to Pettis on his deep curl route along the left side of the field with anticipation, getting the ball out as Pettis is sinking his hips into his cut back to the quarterback:
