interestingly, beckerman, jones and bradley played in the mexico game in columbus. i was at that game and thought it was a very strong performance by the team. but i worry about having both jones and beckerman in the d-mid role against say a germany. not enough creativity for me personally. i'm all for midfield steel, but there has to be some passing ability, or the team just gives up the ball--why i don't like jones in the mid.

i know that jones is probably going to play. he's one of klinsy's favorites and i'm not debating his (klinsmann's) track record. i would rather see beckerman, bradley in the center, then any number of guys in the wing or diamond in a 4-4-2.

saying all that, i'm cautiously optimistic for mundial. but it could be brutal. i hope it's not 1998 again.

also, just a note on the mexico game in columbus. it's the only u.s.a. men's game i've seen in this country where we were actually the home team. lol.

Pretty sure there are just more Mexico fans in this country in general than USA fans, so is to be expected... especially since Mexico plays 90% of their home matches here anyway.

Bradley was out for that game with a nasty ankle sprain he suffered in the pre-game warmup against Costa Rica, but Jones/Beckerman stepped up and did very well in Columbus against Mexico. The U.S. aren't favorites to get out of the group in the WC but I think they will do well and nowhere as bad as that 98 team. I highly doubt somebody will be sleeping with another teammates wife haha.

Surprised this wasn't posted yesterday but here is the 30 man preliminary roster. It is a really good preliminary roster and I have 0 complaints.

Camp starts on Wednesday in Stanford.

I didn't have a problem with EJ being snubbed since he was in bad form for DC and his attitude is a concern.

There have been a lot of snubs around the world this year though it seems... I have no problem with EJ being one of them

The USA look uhh....sluggish right now. Not finishing their chances scares me.

what do you all think the line-ups should be? I think anything is fine considering the experimental 3-5-2 proposal. Here is mine....offensive minded because of our shitty defensive options

I say 3-2-1-3-1

Beasely- Besler- F.Johnson
Jones Beckerman
Bradley
Donovan Dempsey Wondoloski
Altidore

No way wondo starts in any of the games in the WC same with beckerman and donovan is not even on the team lol. JK will very likely stick with the 4-2-3-1 and change it to a 4-4-2 in the second half if needed.
