If you like essays, Amis' The Moronic Inferno might be interesting for you. His take on America.

I read this the summer after we got cutler. He sounded like he was a real asshole to the book's author, but then, the author seemed like a real asshole, too

Dancing at the Rascal Fair by Ivan Doig. Good novel, first part of a trilogy about Scottish settlers in Montana and the generations that follow.

Finished it today -- click the spoiler for a spoiler of the book.

-- North was successful by being well informed and controversial...and the book kind of backed that up. He swears that Wilt is the best player to ever play the game, and says "that's no slight to Jordan," then goes on to state it at least 4 more times in the book. He also claims that Bobby Hull is the greatest hockey player ever, and it's not even close. Gretzky was really good, an all-timer, but he couldn't fight, so that knocked him down a peg. He thinks Bobby Jenks is the greatest single-season closer in Chicago baseball history...and if he were to field an all-Chicago baseball team, Ryne Sandberg would not be his starting 2b. He holds grudges against people that didn't give him interviews...he thinks Gayle Sayers is the best RB of all-time...Wrigley gets both his first and 2nd votes as best Chicago Sports venue of all time (First w/ the Bears, then with the Cubs)...

I'm making my way through the Game of Thrones books. I'm still in the first 3rd of the second book. It's quite a bit slower than the first book so far but it's good.

my wife is starting the Game of Thrones books, and I'm supposed to read invisible man in my African American lit class. Just not sure how much of it we have to read.

I hate to admit it, but I spend my "book time" reading these forums.
Maybe that's why I get pissed off when I see something really stupid?

I read The Invisible Man in high school.... I was pissed when early on in the book I realized the man was not literally invisible but rather the title was a reference to a motif of the book
