The only thing it really has in common with The Long Walk is that it has kids as the competitors. It’s sort of a mash-up between The Long Walk and The Running Man.

I don't take issue in people liking these knockoff books. But I do take issue with the
popularity of books that are pretty much ripping off others(in bulk) and the only reason they are successful, is due to the new book being targeted towards young adults.
Hey, if you're 16 and love these ripoffs because the original was written for adults, that's cool. But don't let the teenager that has read enough books on their own that they can finally count them with their fingers, sway a mature reader into falling for the same market trap. I call these books, pedo-mom books. Potter/Twilight/Hunger Games/Divergent and so on. Just a flavor of the month trend that was set by kids. Why I see it as an annoyance, is because these basic books will supersede other amazing books, and a lot of great writings go forgotten for no reason.
