Goes back to what I've said that 90% of the decision athletes make boils down to the dollars and cents. Boras isn't dumb, and looking at the market that has been flooded with relievers decided that his client was going to get the most money this way.

Melvin was trying to recoup some of the farm that he has absolutely torched to put that run last year together, and it is going to bite him. Can't say I feel particularly sorry for you though.

I understand but the chances that K-Rod was going to accecpt was like 1/100. The closer market just filled up way too quickly. Seriously, if the Padres don't trade for Street today, K-Rod probably declines.

Honestly, the Brewers could just trade K-Rod (1 year deal is a lot better than giving him a 3-4 year deal like he was looking for)

Maybe the Red Sox would consider Lowrie for K-Rod? Or Scutaro? Or they could just cut him before ST and pay roughly 2.3 million.

Or they could keep him and just raise the payroll a bit and have another good pen in Saito-K-Rod-Axford.

Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

The Red Sox can get a closer without the cost and baggage.

I doubt Street changed anything the Padres weren't gonna pay for K-rod. You guys will likely trade him your FO knew the risk smart decision IMO by Krod to take the pay day.

He's not really wrong. Buehrle is a good pitcher but he's only an ace by default because the rest of your rotation sucks. Kind of like how Garza is the Cubs' ace by default for the same reason. Garza was the #3 guy on the Rays. Buehrle will probably be #2 or #3 behind Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez.

Saying Someone is a #1 and saying someone is an ace are not equal. At many times Mark has been an ace but more than not he's just been a solid #1. There are maybe 7-10 pitchers that are consistent aces

The #Angels and the #Cardinals have emerged as the primary possibilities for Albert. Per @BusterOlney

@Ken_Rosenthal Sources: Rangers not at all confident about chances of landing Garza from #Cubs. Consider asking price to be too steep.

Well this just got ridiculous.. if the Red Sox sign Pujols (they were the mystery team), they would then try to trade Gonzo and that'll be to the Cubs.. Damn...

Nothing ha about it. He's done a hell of alot more than Zambozo.
Umm ok?

That doesn't make Buehrle a #1. It makes him more consistant/better than Zambrano. That's not the same thing.

Nice work overlooking that though.

Wow another winning comment. Nite all. One post by FT and I've lost enough IQ points for the day
Says the guy who didn't know what OPS+ was and says Baines has a case for the HOF.

Where are you hearing the Red Sox?

This is the thing thats bad with guys like Rosenthal. They know they'll get a spike in interest if their reporting includes certain teams. But then they hide behind anonymity where their "sources" are concerned, so they know no one will pin them down on being truthful.

I think HBT summed it up perfectly

Thats sketchy speculation analyzing sketchy speculation.

For one thing, Starks doesn't really know how much money teams have or what they're willing to spend.

This was Phil Rogers... I don't believe it one bit and that's why I said it's ridiculous.
