The big-spending Miami Marlins pursuit of Pujols ended earlier Wednesday, leaving the Angels as perhaps the strongest challenger to the St. Louis Cardinals’ efforts to keep Pujols. However, sources told FOXSports.com that a third team — possibly the Cubs — has remained involved. The Cubs were known to be involved in the Pujols marketplace as recently as early Wednesday afternoon.

Typical Rosenthal. That dude is worthless.

MILW playing it right in the way they're negotiating with Fielder, but Cubs could grab this thing by the throat with Ryan Howard-type offer.

Yeah, I don't think Milwaukee is going to be close to Ryan Howard money.

Ryan Howard wasn't worth Ryan Howard money  I don't think the Cubs will pay Fielder more than whatever Pujols is getting either.

They said this higgets they will go is 6 year/120 million. So.. 20 million a year. Close, but yeah their out.

He's been spot on a lot this Winter Meetings. I have complete faith in Rosenthal.

He's been all over the place. The reason he's right is because he changes with the wind. That's not really being an insider. If he was such an insider, he'd have something that would be more consistent from beginning to end.

Actually, 6/120 makes more sense than where the Cubs came in at in some ways. But I dont really think the Brewers will enter a bidding war with Chicago.

Wasn't the report earlier tonight that the Cubs offered 7 years 140 million?

Wow another winning comment. Nite all. One post by FT and I've lost enough IQ points for the day

He's not really wrong. Buehrle is a good pitcher but he's only an ace by default because the rest of your rotation sucks. Kind of like how Garza is the Cubs' ace by default for the same reason. Garza was the #3 guy on the Rays. Buehrle will probably be #2 or #3 behind Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez.

Yeah, someone said Rosenthal said that. But I could not fine it or confirm it.

So.. I'm going with unconfirmed.

**** K-Rod. He bitched and moaned about being the SU man in Milwaukee about a month after he came to the Brewers. Said after the season he wouldn't be back. So the Brewers offer him arbitration because there was like a 0.01111% chance he would be back. Guess what he does? Decides to accecpt, although Boras said they are still deciding and it's a "fluid process"
