The Cubs are not broke, they have the money...

Also, one team I've heard interested in Thorton was the Braves.

Couple of signings to report:

-Octavio Dotel to the Tigers
-LaTroy Hawkins to the Angels
-K-Rod accepts Brewers' arbitration offer
-Angels looking at C.J. Wilson for 5 years or possibly dealing Ervin Santana for a lesser SP and a hitter

Hell yeah... The Cubs are way closer than the M's. Also, thier GM said yesterday their not in on Fielder. Here's potential Fielder landings:

O's: Said to not be interested
Jays: Won't go higher than 5 years, so they're out
Marlins: Won't pursue Fielder
Brewers: Said to have move on
M's: GM said yesterday, their out on Pujols
Angels: Could be, but close to locking ip CJ and then their be out

It really leaves the Cubs if you think about it. Unless a teams jumps in big time at the last minute.

Bleachernation stated that Tom Verducci said Yu Darvish is close to be posting and that Cubs would definitely be interested.

That's true.. He repoted it on the MLB network. He said it could be as close as next week that he's posted.

This is going to **** the Brewers up pretty badly next year. That is going to be a lot of money locked up into a setup guy.

Very true.. They didn't think he would accept arbitration, but that's where he would earn the most money next year. A lot of teams don't need closers any more as they sign them or traded for thme. The Brewers are pissed off, but it's their own fault.

I'm liking how the Marlins have gone from the brink of signing Pujols to overpaying a bunch of #3 starters.
