Why isn't he the MVP?
Because his team's 4th in the division.

How much worse could the Blue Jays be without him?

Take Granderson, Adrian Gonzalez, Verlander off their teams, they drop to the bottom.

i disagree a little with granderson and gonzo

but if you look value wise towards the team, the team record, etc.

gonzo is probably AL MVP

bautista has a high production rate but overall imo does not have as much value as others...plus it hurts when you dont play on a great team...in basketball you can get away with that because if you are a great player..you make you whole team so much better..not true always in baseball because of the nature of the game..especially offensively when you can only every time you are at bat

I see poodski's line of thinking, I just don't see why a 4th place team should have a MVP

Andre Dawson says hello.

Regardless going by WPA Bautista has added nearly 14 win shares with the bat. That's 4 full wins over second place Miggy.

The blue jays would be much much further down without him. Yanks would still be in the playoff hunt without Grandy. Same with Boston without Ellsbury (yeah he's been their best player).

Toronto without Bautista are the Worst team in the AL.

Doesn't mean I thought Dawson deserved that MVP. I don't think 4th or 5th place teams have room for MVP talk.

Though the Blue Jays would be further down, I can't justify that enough for giving Bautista the MVP.

I doubt very many people thought Dawson deserved his MVP award, nor his HOF induction, but what's done is done.

Yeah as much as I loved the Hawk I always thought he was one of those guys more belonging to the Hall of Very Good.

And now we've taken a thread that was devoted to Zambrano and now going off on whether Dawson deserved his MVP/HOF Induction.

I think Zambrano is in the Hall of Good. He's easily one of the best pitchers in Cubs history though.
