This is a lazy opinion.

Boras is looking at payroll capacity and farm talent. That is it. 14 years buys time.

Unless NYY or BOSOX are in play contenders are not looking at 30-35M on 1 guy. To be a contender they have invested already and can’t budget it.

So the market is as above. Get out of your box. He has no pending urgency to win now. He has luxury if age and a long term. So when the cheap assets come in to support him. A guy like him wants a legit closer and a ace that soak pay roll. But every thing else more self developed with a farm that can keep costs down.

That is my target. So a team like Oakland that has a history of self development with out the payroll road block.

Sox are the type of team to target honestly
Again

In my lazy opinion
I do not see a team willing to offer that many years and would want to be in position to pay 30+ per on a player between age 35-40

Just not happening anymore with the tax threshold now, teams aren't going to tie themselves up like that anymore

In my lazy opinion

For Manny and Bryce I think one is headed to Philly and the other to the Angels or perhaps Seattle

More better AL teams then the sox to offer that to him..

I think Angels will make a play for him

OK, so it gonna be him and Trout, or are you counting on Trout wanting to get closer to New Jersey? I can see it getting ugly out there with him making 35 and Trout figuring he is the best in the game so he has to get more. I know we are talking about multi generation changing dollars here, but I dont know how their fans take it if they end up pushing mike out.

I don't think Trout thinks about what others make for a moment.

Until Harper signs elsewhere or the Cubs make a move that finalizes they won't go after him, I'll hold out hope/dream of Harper in Cubbie blue. This is all going to depend on what is most important to Harper ultimately. If it's the chance to win a title I think the Cubs would be high on the list. Payroll constraints will always be a factor, but it will be interesting to see the new treshhold after 2021. If money and length of contract are what's most important, then I doubt he's a Cub.

Whatever he chooses, I doubt this will be the last time he's a FA.

I find his choice of return players interesting..[emoji6]

As Levine writes, there’s a clear fit here for the Cubs (more on that in a moment), though the cost would necessarily involve quality young players as the Royals rebuild. The names Levine mentions, specifically? Addison Russell plus a piece like Ian Happ or Carl Edwards Jr.

I count on Trout wanting to win a championship now and would welcome a bat like Harper to the lineup

I was just going from the questionable comments made by the commissioner about Trout not doing enough to grow the game. Seems he finishes the year and heads back to the east coast to use his season tickets for his Eagles. Just think about that a second, home is new jersey, but his team is Philly, they could end up with both of them and get his chances for titles.

I dont mind them moving CJ, seems he is a one trick pony lately and would be selling high.

Not only that but he can't play RF. If you're going to do something like that you'd be far better talking to the cards about Fowler. If they are actually going after Harper they REALLY need to move Fowler because even if they don't go after Harper they probably should move him.

Fowler?
See comments above re: McCutchen.

If we think now is the time to trade Edwards, he is not the one who is high. Hey-ohhhhhh

Only worth it if Chatwood and Duesing are moved. That brings inna lead off and opens 2 pen spots. 1 tonresign Chavez and the 2nd to target Miller. You have to look at the over all situation and moving dead contract.
