Why do people keep insisting on breaking up the most explosive line in the NHL.

Cuz who the **** is gonna play with Toews?

Our 1st line will be hobbled Hossa, Toews, and a revolving door of 1LWs

Think if they play together a 2nd year, more chemistry ..... Panarin could be better than his 1st season, keeping them together should be a no brainer.

The hope is that Nick Schmaltz or Tyler Motte arrives at camp ready to skate on the top line.

Because the top line was impotent last year, and Panarin/Kane on the same line is overkill.

Because Joel Quenneville is renowned for putting rookies on the top line and leaving them there while they go through NHL growing pains...

I keep thinking that these weird contract lengths have to have something to do with the expansion draft? Maybe they think they'll be able to expose these players without them getting taken. Or vise versa they are doing the work player a favor to give them a big contract now to join, then expose them to play out their days in Vegas. Hell I don't know but 6 and 7 is the new 3 right now.

The Toews line was impotent, but splitting up the Bread man line could end up giving the total offense fewer points overall.

Saad, versteeg largely played with t & k his rookie year, and Panarin of course is a rookie.

The thing is he largely doesn't change lineups when winning.

IIRC, Saad did not make his way to the top line until the latter half of his rookie year, but we're talking about depending on either Motte or Schmaltz to make the top line coming out of training camp. That would be a first, as far as I know. As for Panarin, I get that he was considered a rookie by the rules, but it's a bad comp for a guy with several years of professional experience under his belt.

Saad game 2 was on the top pair besides toews and Hossa.

Saad game 2 of the season was on the top pair besides toews and Hossa. He wasn't even scoring much but his play itself was good up and down the ice and the team had the mega points streak going.

Definitely like what the Sharks have done today. Added some speed in Boedker and Schlemko will definitely help on the back end.

Not many free agents signed today where I thought "would have been nice to seem them in a Hawks sweater at that price". Blackhawks just can't afford a whole lot at this point. I thought Connolly on a 1 year deal at 850k could have been a nice one. Connolly played next to Marchand/Bergeron for most of the season but got bumped out due to consistency once Stempniak came around. Eaves and Ott came in at decent 1 year contracts and will help their new teams fill out some lower 6 depth.

There were times last season when Q would put Kane or Panarin up with Toews, there wasn't a whole lot of scoring production. Your overkill comment is ignorant, you're basically calling a dangerous combination of Kane and Panarin overkill that's Bullshit. Those guys need to be kept together and they will continue to rape the opposition. Overkill :lmao:...Back in the day Toews, Kane and Sharpie....Overkill LMAO, you don't break up lethal combinations. Panarin and Kane with Anisimov could be even better this year but you want to call that Overkill. SMH

Phil Jackson shouldn't have played Jordan and Pippin together, overkill.

Buddy Ryan shouldn't have played Singletary, Dent, Hampton, Marshall, Wilson etc all together....overkill.

The reason the nuclear option has been so rarely used over the past few years is precisely because putting too much of your scoring threat on a single line makes it too easy to counter. This is, apparently, news to you. As for your laughably irrelevant comparisons to completely different sports, they are literally some of worst sports thoughts that could conceivably come out of a legally competent adult. It's frightening, really.

Saad didn't go to the top line until Daniel Carcillo got hurt.
