Omelet's Monthly Music thread
Almost 45 years ago, Joe Cocker decided to put together a world class band and go on tour with only 3 weeks practice. That band was called Mad Dogs and Englishmen and they toured some of the biggest stadiums in America. This was before all the mega stadium tours later in the 70s and was considered a real event.
Under the musical direction of the great Leon Russell who served as band director Cocker assembled a cast of all star talent. The list includes: Russell on piano, Chris Stainton on Piano, Bobby Keyes (Rolling Stones horn player), Drumming great Jim Keltner, Carl Radle, Jim Price and Rita Cooledge on back up vocals. Many consider the live album produced as one of the best ever. Here is a little clip of them doing an impromptu performance in a bar after the concert

I saw them about a 2 years after this and have seen Cocker play many times over the years. He always surrounds himself with the best musicians and his shows are a blast
