Hendricks has had rough stretches before. When he is not locating the ball well, he gets smashed. At some point it is over for him, but im not 100% ready to write him off just yet.

86 mph fastball is telling.....not enough separation from his off speed stuff. He used to throw 90. He's walking guys now trying to be too fine. He may not be done yet, but he's close.

oh for sure, hes seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. he went to the IL with shoulder inflammation, i believe...id imagine that hindered some of the life on his fastball. if his shoulder/body gets healthy, id imagine he could come back and at least be a 4 ERA pitcher. nothing amazing, but serviceable and can eat up some innings.

right now though, it appears the cubs should have signed another starter. i hear Bauer is still available lol

RIP Kenny Holtzman.

Along with Jake the only pitchers to throw two no-hitters as a Cub.

The Cubs starters have not gone 6 IP very often this year, and that has caused them to be league lowest in quality starts.

But in actuality, they have been getting decent to good starts more often than not.

Certainly over the long haul, short starts will kill the pen, but it's normal to pull pitchers earlier in the game in the early part of the season. And Counsell seems to have a quick hook in general.

The Cubs are in their 16th game. Excluding three awful starts by Hendricks, they've really only had 1 other bad start - Wicks allowing 4 ER in 4 IP.

The pen has been beat up in a few games, and overused. But for a team missing two starters and using one who has been terrible thus far, the starting pitching has been OK.

Ben Brown going 6 innings tonight with 1 run allowed was nice. Only allowed one hit but did so after a pair of walks.

Unfortunately, even with AZ having only 1 hit thru 7, the Cubs are currently in danger of losing.

9th inning we send up Mastrobuoni to PH - K

10th inning, Madrigal - DP

Why are these two fucks even on the roster, much less used in high leverage situations?

Play Canario tonight. No David Ross treatment.

Mastrobation shouldn't be in MLB.

Madrigal is playing his role. #1 being a defensive caddy to Morel at third. Plus he can play 2B and even SS in a pinch.
Not bad for .250 hitter....he's earned his spot.

I’m pretty sure the next time the Cubs have a fan fantasy camp Kyle Hendricks will be the pitcher so that everyone can circle the bases.

The Cubs got a single three doubles and a triple and scored four runs. And of course didn’t get a guy in from third w 1 out due to K.

In the bottom of the same inning, the Cubs have walked three, thrown three wild pitches, and have a throwing error to give Arizona four runs and counting.

Amaya catching on one knee, unable to slide to his left hasn’t helped matters any.

This is the kind of managing you get for $40 mil? He should've considered it a win to be leading in this game....but no, out comes Mr. Batting practice for the 5th.

The pen is down three guys, counting two forced into rotation, and they've been pitching 4 innings per game. Damned is he does, damned if he doesn't.

In 13 games not started by Hendricks, the Cubs have allowed 46 runs.

In 4 games started by Hendricks, the Cubs have allowed 40.

(And were an out away from splitting those four.)
