Seems the NY Jets noise is getting louder:

“It seems like the Wilson ship has sailed and he will be playing elsewhere in 2025, but Fields is one of the top names in terms of likely options for the Steelers. However, they won’t be the only team in his market. According to Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets have an eye on Fields.

“They like the idea of a dual-threat quarterback,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. “I’m told Fields has looked at that roster [and] sees some intrigue, too.”

Fields had 10 total touchdowns to one interception in his six starts with the Steelers in 2024, going 4-2 in those games. If the Jets lure Fields away, the Steelers would need to act quickly to not be left without a legitimate quarterback for the 2025 season.”

If Justin's best option if not returning to Pittsburgh is getting a starting job with the Jets and Pittsburgh's best option is bringing in Daniel Jones (not sure how his contract will work out) and maybe Russell Wilson - Justin's got the leverage.

Think the deal is 2 years and well above $30M total.

Yup. Those who were aggressive idiots bullying people about how Justin Fields is a superstar and the rest of us are morons should be roundly mocked early and often.
What about those who were aggressive idiots bullying people about how Caleb Williams is a superstar?

Who does that? Source?

I’ll tell you what. If Caleb Williams is putting up Justin Fields-like numbers after 3+ years in the league and people on here are still crowing about how he’s a superstar and everyone else are just idiots, feel free to call those people out.

“Justin Fields is going to sign a multi-year deal and prove everyone wrong!”

“No, he’s not.”

“Stop it!! Why are you so obsessed with talking shit about Justin Fields!?!?”

I will quickly bite. JFields had 5 touchdowns passing, and 5 touchdowns rushing = 10 TD's ....... and only 1 INT, and only 1 fumble. Moreover, his completion % was good.... better than CW's and quite a few other name brand QB's. He did it all with a sub-par Oline and sub-par receiving core. He was also consistently beating the blitz with his passes -- was a blitz killer! At just 25 years old, he was clearly showing growth.

Juxtapose a young guy, showing growth, maturing.... against a Super Bowl Champion waiting in the wings on a team with "win now" aspirations, and you can clearly see why the switch was made:
-- one guy is proving himself.... is showing growth.... but has never won a Super Bowl let alone a playoff game
-- the other guy has won a Super Bowl and you are hoping he can tap into that old magic and lead you to the promise land

The temptation of going to a proven Super Bowl winner was too much to ignore. Its not necessarily an indictment against the other guy (Fields) that the switch was made. Just about all teams in "win now" mode would have gone to the Super Bowl winner who will likely be a Hall of Famer.
You’re trying hard to convince us to believe something NFL GM’s don’t believe.

Bingo.

If Fields was good, he'd be starting for someone right now.

One of the 32 sets of coaches and GMs would be inking him to a multi-year starting deal.

The league told everyone exactly what they think of Justin Fields.

Fields sucks and is no longer a Bear. End of story.

You guys are like the guy who just can't let go of his old girlfriend.

Let it go already.
Isn’t the nfl scripted but you can never tell us the outcome?

What did Fields fetch on the trade market?

He would have fetched more if ryan poles didnt botch the way the trade was handled.

There were only a couple teams who had interest, and he waited until FA started to get rid of him.

The correct move was to have traded him the moment the 2023 season ended.

Either way, I'm sure fields will have plenty of interest in FA because he's the only QB there who has any potential upside besides Darnold, who will command like 35-40m.

If I'm a team drafting shadeur/cam I let them sit a year and sign fields to a 2 year deal and let him play in 2025. Best case scenario you end up w/ a darnold situation where you can have control of fields for another year, worst case you have a good backup for 2026 while the young guys start.

Free Agency starts at 3PM CST on March 12th!

Looking forward to reading your in depth analysis of where Justin lands and how much he fetches in FA - that's if he doesn't wind up with the Steelers before FA starts.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats

Looks like they do want mobility from their QB next season no matter what.

Why would someone expect Jones to thrive under Smith when he didn’t under Daboll?

Two years ago Daboll was God.
