It sounds like Tomlin knows what he currently has/had and does not like either option.
The article is not based on Tomlin’s views, it’s based upon a prediction by ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz 🤣. Maybe next time you should read the article first before replying.

Not necessarily. Kurt Warner was bagging groceries when he went on to win Super Bowls and have a Hall of Fame career. Sometimes when the light goes on, IT REALLY GOES ON!

Teams would be wise to at least see if he has the goods.
Something tells me your team would be fine if it made the general rule to “not hire grocery baggers as your QB1.”

Kurt Warner wasn’t a backup in college for 5 years. He was just overlooked in the draft.

Ummmm…..didn’t expect this would need explanation but….the columnist suggesting Pittsburgh may trade for a QB would be BECAUSE Tomlin doesn’t like what he has.

It is surprising how many people don’t get the whole idea of “the exception proves the rule”.

Someone brings up Brady any time one suggests you won’t find your QB in the late rounds.

Technically he wasn’t signed to be QB1. He was a third string backup before moving up to 2nd string and then getting the starting gig when Green went down.

I think it would be a big mistake for Fields to sign anywhere other than Pittsburgh. He needs continuity and the Steelers are a solid organization.

I definitely agree, even it’s for less money than another team is offering.

You and I may be in the minority with this viewpoint, though.

The fact that new Jets HC Aaron Glenn was the DC for the Detroit Lions during Justin Fields’ entire Chicago Bears career, it speaks volumes that he reportedly wants Fields to be his starting Quarterback.

I think no matter where he goes, it will be either as a bridge QB or to be in a QB competition. No one is looking at him as a long term solution unless they want him to be the long term backup.

So Pittsburgh goes into 2025 and tells this to their fan base:

“Last year we signed two quarterbacks.

The argument in favor of signing them was their low salaries.

One of the two clearly won the quarterback job over the other, yet with the better QB playing, we were not truly contenders.

This year we’ve decided to go into the season with the man who lost the quarterback battle.

We will pay him significantly more than we paid the two of them together last year and we still need to find a back up quarterback and pay him, too.

We feel we have a chance to win nine games and maintain our non-losing season streak, which will justify keeping the head coach who hasn’t won a playoff game in 10 years.“

The self awareness on this board is comical.
