No. The Steelers just showed you what they thought he was worth. They chose to pass on him even without a sure replacement rather than pay $20 million.
We have no idea what Pittsburgh offered just yet but when they have the press conference - expect Glenn to gush about how hard he was to stop and how he believes in him because of that familiarity.

Justin can deliver a solid season for them with that roster - he was on his way to doing that for the Steelers before they went with Russ. I'm sure Pittsburgh will be 10-7 no matter who they put in there but at some point their tank will hit empty without a long-term QB.

You do realize the Steelers are currently without a starting quarterback. The reason for that is because Justin Fields was their #1 target. The Steelers tried to get cute and lowball him, so he signed a big contract with the Jets. Now the Steelers are scrambling for plan B or C.

Not necessarily. They can't speak with Rodgers until tomorrow because the Jets technically haven't released him yet.

They also apparently reached out to Darnold's reps, but were ultimately outbid by Seattle.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with Rodgers to know for sure, but their actions are showing that Fields may not have been their first option.

If reports are true that they lowballed Fields and offered Darnold a contract, you'd have to assume that the offer to Darnold was higher. And if they're waiting to see what things go like with Aaron....

That's not how you treat your number 1 option at QB

Steelers probably should've just done the 5th year option last year if they had any plans of keeping Fields. His contract with the Jets isn't considerably different from that value.

Agreed. They are like the St Louis Cardinals thinking it’s better to be middle and brag that you’re not last. But not building a contender.
They are like the Bears with Cutler…only they make the playoffs only to be embarrassed.

I think it was stupid in his part but I digress
I honestly thought (and I can't remember if I posted it here, or if I commented on The Athletic) that he might be better served to go to a place like the Rams, Vikings, or Ravens and take the Geno Smith approach. Can't say I disagree with wanting to get the bag though. I don't think he's much longer for the NFL.

Colts, Vikings awaiting Daniel Jones decision

The Colts and Vikings remain the primary suitors for Minnesota free agent QB Daniel Jones, with the teams now awaiting a decision from the six-year veteran, according to a league source. Jones is looking for an opportunity to play, and is likely considering the potential for playing time with the respective teams.

The Colts have said they intend to hold a quarterback competition between returning starter Anthony Richardson and a free agent while the Vikings are committed in the long term to 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. -- Stephen Holder

Four void years on H1m's two year contract. Ryan Pace would be proud.

It is obviously his last chance. He got good $ and a chance to start. That's all you can ask for.
Plus, he’s back with Garrett Wilson. I’m sure that was a consideration for Justin too.

They have a solid defense and an excellent RB in Hall.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm definitely glad they got screwed. That's what they get for low balling the Bears

Jones to the Colts - Rodgers is coming back to the division I think.

If so, the Steelers gotta run it back with Russ. Yikes.

I think they'll absolutely be better than the Dolphins and who knows how good the Pats will be.

Other than being cheap and lowballing their preferred starting quarterback, I can’t tell you what the Steelers are doing.

The NY Jets stepped in and snatched the good young starting quarterback before he could talk to any of the other teams that were reportedly after him.
The Steelers are letting a backup borderline starter walk and moving onto greener pastures.
