NJ.com's Jordan Raanan said the Giants are "in the mix" for LSU G/T La'El Collins.
Collins has a connection to Giants wideout Odell Beckham Jr., having played with him at LSU. Now that Collins is not a suspect in the murder of his ex-girlfriend, teams are lining up for his services. Despite taking two offensive linemen in last week's draft, it remains an area of need for the Giants. The first-team All-SEC selection has also been pursued by the Bills, Bucs, Chargers and Dolphins.

LSU G/T La'El Collins wants to sign with a team that will allow him to play tackle.
Collins is drawing heavy interest after going undrafted last weekend. The Baton Rouge Police should clear Collins' name in the murder of his ex-girlfriend shortly, allowing Collins to sign with a team. Playing tackle will help maximize his earnings on a second contract since he won't be getting paid much the first two years in the league. The Dolphins would seem to be longshots to land Collins with this news, being that they already have LT Branden Albert and RT Ja'Wuan James.

We need to pug Ego on a plane, send Kyle Long for good measure, and they need to come back with Collins.

Chicago in the summer could sell anyone.

Perfect time of the year to recruit.

Damn, this is where we would benefit from having Trestman. He would tell him that he has 10 ways to use Collins.

I would absolutely love for him to come here. Instant starter and massive upgrade at RT.

If Collins and his agent are doing their homework, the Bears should be in the top 5 of his list. In 2 years when he can resign for a bigger paycheck, Chicago will have all kinds of cap space and the Bears have the ability to start the kid at RT day 1. The Bears check both boxes on his list of requirements.

not to mention our LT is 30 years old and only signed through 2017 (and only 2.2mil in dead space if he's cut after 2016), so if la'el plays well he could be in line to be the LT of the future.

I still don't think we have a legitimate shot at signing him and I wonder if Pace is even interested considering la'el has had attitude problems stemming back to his freshman year and his drama doesn't really go with pace's "football-first and football-only" mentality

It's frustrating that no reports have linked the Bears to Collins.

Make a fucking effort!

These are the situations where the cluster **** of Trestman hurts us.

From a football standpoint the Bears are not as attractive a location as they should be.

John Fox's resume helps, but the public image of the Bears is way down in comparison to where it should be.

Cause checks can not be traced

It is Chicago, briefcases of unmarked bills get passed all the time.

Just treat Collins like a really important union boss or alderman.

Exactly....we were the laughing stock of the league last year...... but I do agree, I think Pace/Fox bring more legitimacy to us this year....

Yep, we're a joke team right now, albeit one that had a good draft and off season. No way he comes here.

I don't see Collins as a great option at LT. He reminds me somewhat of Brandon Scherff, who I also didn't see as a fit at LT.

Would absolutely love to sign him, though!

So Pace should just go out publicly and reveal who he's going to go after?

You have no idea if he's making a "fucking effort".

He is going to sign in a state that has no income tax. How was Rex Ryan able to get away in meeting with him. Hopefully the take away a draft pick for that.

Tax will be big since all the teams will offer the same max deal. It could be as large as a 10% difference, so choosing someplace that fits is key.
