Yeah, if he signs as an UDFA, he was definitely bluffing in refusing to sign.

Apparently the meeting is illegal, ha, way to Rex. Unsanctioned meeting.

I do not think it is illegal, technically he is a UDFA and he can sign tonight if he wants.

I think Rex went down and met with him without his agents knowing. Ryan is going covert to sign this guy.

Really wish the Bears would land him.

Yeah, read it wrong, just did not clear it with his agent.

I haven't read this thread so point me in the right direction if it's already been addressed; but since Collins is technically an UDFA, is there a maximum number of years and dollars that he can be signed for?

For example: can a team give him a 4 year $10M contract as if he were a first rounder or is only allowed 3 years and $1M or whatever UDFAs get?

Good for Rex.

If we cannot land Collins I hope he ends up in the AFC, I do not want another NFC team essentially getting a free 1st round pick.

I hope he plays in Buffalo, Rex seems like a good dude.

Rex is a total moron. He is a braggert amd makes bold promises his team can't keep. He has to be the center of attention and wont shut up. He knows nothing about offense and couldnt develop a QB if his life depended upon it

All teams can only offer him a 3 year minimum deal with next to no signing bonus.

That is the maximum you can offer a UDFA.

Collins will select his team based entirely on where he wants to go , because all teams will be offering the exact same contract.

Spoken like a true Jets fan. Congrats though, you guys did turn a 5th into Brandon Marshall and Zac Stacy.

There are definitely worse places he could end up. You'd think the Colts would be doing all they can too.

it does seem somewhat odd to me that if the police are so adamant that he is not a suspect, why no teams were willing to draft him even in a late round. I mean in this country we are supposedly "innocent until proven guilty."

The police aren't adamant that he is not guilty.
They are being careful to not say he is a suspect at this time.

He may be innocent, or he may have been involved. Time will tell.

He wasn't bluffing. He was saying "if drafted, I won't sign".

Undrafted, he has no options but to sign.

The Bears need to do some homework right now and get a list of all of his closest friends on LSU and see if any went undrafted, and if there is any then they should bring them in to tryout with the team. This kid is a 1st round pick and a day 1 starter at any of the 4 spots on the line but one of the tackle spots for us so we should be all in on trying to get this kid, but it's gonna be real hard for him to turn down the warm weather teams like Miami, Dallas and the LA teams or the teams that contend for championships every damn year like GB, NE, Denver or Seattle to come to cold ass Chicago to play for a team that's been historically bad the past 10 years so we need to use whatever we can to help entice him to come play for us. We would have a 12 year starter at either tackle spot for a cheap contract to start off anyway.

I'll tell you what though, this could be big for R.Pace to show he can go out and get a kid like this to choose the Chicago Bears over every other team that's trying desperately to sign him. We don't even know if we're even trying to get him cause it said ALMOST every team is trying to get him. I hope we do cause it would be like winning the lottery getting this kid.

I really, really hope that the Bears press HARD to sign this guy. And I actually think he's a guaranteed day 1-starter with us, which should get his attention a little bit.

I heard that the Cowboys are also one of the teams very keen to sign him. That would just be mean...

I am going to play the mush factor and hope it works.....There is really no chance he comes to Chicago with the amount of teams going hard after him.
