well, we experienced it once, the greatness, would be nice to experience it again, but looks like that wont happen for 9 years.

Sox can still win one of the wild cards if things go right.

*Is there two wild cards this season? Or is that next year?

Depends on what they decide by March. If they can't fast-track it, it'll definitely be next year. But Bud really really wants it implemented so you might be looking at this year. I doubt the second wild card comes out of the AL Central for a while though, AL East and AL West are going to be crazy.

The bet was a big splash. I believe Cespedes still qualifies as a big splash, no?

You're right giving ~50 MM to a guy who has never played above A ball is the same as DeJesus at 2/10. LMFAO. You're clueless.

Hey, remember that time the White Sox gave Adam Dunn $56 million to hit .156 and have almost three times as many strikeouts as hits?

All kidding aside... glad he's out of the NL. The Central is going to be horrible this year. 83 wins might get the division.

I'd be very surprised if the Brewers and Cardinals didn't get at least 80 wins a piece. The Cubs I still have 70 as the over/under

Its sad that Detroit of all cities (which has no tv deal) trumps the cubs and sox in the 3rd largest market.

Very, very sad.

Someone told me Detroit just signed a ginormous TV contract with FOX Sports. I'll look that up later, but apparently that's how they can afford him.

The problem with the Cubs and Sox is timing. Not to mention you guys are still paying for Konerko and Dunn and can't exactly dump either of them without eating a shitload of money.

:nope:

Konerko is well worth the money. Love the guy. Replace him with Rios and I fully agree.

I apologize if it looks like I was dissing Paul Konerko. That was not the intention, it was more to say that Paul Konerko is a first baseman who is defensively better than Dunn and Prince Fielder combined and therefore it made no sense for the White Sox to overpay for Prince Fielder. Bad timing, too much money, not enough positions.

I disabled sig, so no. Not a splash? That's basically buying ourselves a top 10 prospect in the MLB. That's a pretty big thing to do. Then you go and compare giving a guy who has never played above A ball 50-60 million dollars to giving a proven MLBer 10. Right, that makes a whole fuckload of sense. If you say it's not a big splash, then I guess it's not a big splash.

Yeah, I was wrong about them. So what? That's why I'm not the guy in charge. But I can totally get behind what Thoyer is doing.
