A few forum guys got together for some real life basketball today.

Cool007, Fola, myself, and Fred along with a guy we met at the Y and one of my buddies who's not a forum guy. Just wanted to say thanks to the guys who made it out, it was great playing with you.

Thanks for having me out guys, it was a blast! Hopefully we can do it sometime again soon. But be forewarned, once I get in shape you'll all be in trouble ;). Speaking of which, that Avery guy was pretty good, kinda like a younger me.

Ps, (in my Bill Walton voice*) I just took was has to be, unequivocally, the greatest shower in the history of mankind.

I believe it, you've got size and strength on all of us if you get your wind back.

Fred would be completely unstoppable if he was more athletic. He's pretty difficult to contain now, but if he had more endurance than me I'd call it quits before we started.

We're playing every two weeks or so, so you're welcome to join us any time we play.

If you guys are ever looking for others to play, let me know. I'm not great, but it's a fun way to get some exercise.

Man, it was a blast today, but my legs are killing me. It sucks being 35.

Fola has some serious game. Interesting fact I got from him: He played at Thornwood (Eddie Curry's high school) until he was a junior when he hurt his knee. He can hit the 3, drive and finish. That's all you need to dominate, which he did for most of the day.

This kid Avery we played was freaking awesome. I tried to talk him in going to the U of I. But I must say, Doug did a great job on him. He definitely slowed him down. Fola, Doug, and I vs. Raj, Mycha, and Avery....those were the best set of games because I actually won some of those.

Raj in that last game turned into Craig Hodges. It was ridiculous..he shot about 90% from the 3-point line. I have no memory if we even won that last game...did we? I was trying to remember. Micha was very active as usual on the boards.

Doug is a fantastic perimeter defender. I still can't believe he just picked up the game. I remember playing some kid when I was 28 who just started playing...the kid could barely tie his shoes. It's pretty amazing, because basketball is a hard game to pick up.

You, Fola, and I won all three of our games against Raj, Avery, and Micah.

You missed something I found to be hysterical. A guy joined us after you left to give us 3 on 3, and then in the middle of the game he just left. He didn't say he was quitting, he didn't talk to anyone, just out of no where he walked off the court, got a drink and didn't come back.

I had ton of fun and I have to admit that whoever I was with, I need to apologize as I was sooooooooooooooooo terrible out there. I couldn't hit any shot other than that 1 or 2 games out of what like 10 games we played?

I was so horrible, I felt like shooting myself. I feel so bad for my teammates as I cost them pretty much all the games.

I wow to play better next time. I will be ready. I will make sure I don't eat a BIG MEAL before I come to play.

Either way, it was really fun as always. Fola as a really good game and I had (so obvious) a big time trouble guarding him down low (I am no match for him).

I have to admit, Doug did a really nice job on Avery and did force him to some tough shots and me missing open shots didn't help much either.

Let's do this again next sunday or a week after. I am always up for it.

I will not disappoint anyone (my teammates) next time around - I promise.

We know who the melodramatic one is now ;)

Yes, all I could think of the entire way home was cool007 let me down! You played fine, not your best day perhaps, but like Ben Gordon you space the floor even if your shooting is off, because we're scared you'll get hot.

You are welcome to join us next time we play. I'm not sure when that will be. Maybe two weeks. This weekend is Easter, and I know I can't play then. I'm not sure going into the future what my Sunday's look like.

Hey Doug, does your wife work for Chase in St. Charles???

I saw someone there who really looked like your wife but she was a little far away so I couldn't tell 100%.

Oh ok. She really looked like her though from 80ft away.

Does she have twins (that maybe you don't know about) ;)

Take it easy buddy, you really weren't that bad, honestly. And in your defense, I probably have quite a few pounds on you. And speaking of defense, you're right, Doug's defense those last few games was incredible. It actually kind inspired me to suck it up as after the 4th or 5th game I was spent.

What do you guys play games to, 16 by 1's and 2's?

I'll have to try to join you guys during the summer when I'm home from college.

 I'm not totally sure. Like I said, I was spent (its all a blur). I think we played to 21 by 2's and 3's...i think. Can anyone verify that?

The first time out we played to 15 by 1s and 2s, this time I convinced everyone to switch to 21 by 2s and 3s (as fola said).

1s and 2s when the 3 point line is the top of the key just makes the long ball way too valuable and stops anyone from attempting anything else.

I thought pretty much everyone was shooting 3's anyways (atleast majority of them were 3's anyways) including myself. I hardly had like 4-5 shots inside the arc.

I should mix it up next time. Although I have to admit that the floor really sucks in that gym. It's so slippery, it's hard to make many moves or play good defense, I slip a lot (ben gordon style).

I wish we were playing in another Normal floor gym but I won't complain as long as I get to play, I am good.

I wouldn't mind playing somewhere else, but our requirements are:

1) Reasonable in cost
2) Not crowded
3) Located somewhere that doesn't make the drive obscene for anyone (we've got someone coming from at least 20 minutes from my house in each direction (north, south, east, and west).

I'm not sure where else would be better to play.
