Kinda sad this is what college players are doing now.Word is he was "holding out" for more NIL money.
Or at least 2 or 3 year deals. Why aren’t these NIL deals for more than one year? You want “stability” then make the deal a 4 year deal. NFL rookies have 4 year contracts. Why not college?
It is kinda funny watching Greg Gabriel get mad at this. “Oh he damaged his NFL stock blah blah blah”. I don’t watch enough college football to know if he’s good but given the dearth of good QBs in the world if the kid is any good this will absolutely get overlooked. If he’s bad then it’s an issue, but a good QB can absolutely pull this shit.
(That being said I don’t like it, and hope they find a system where kids aren’t transferring every year. That’s not good for the game)

Depends. NFL scouts will talk to Tennessee players and coaches about players and some may say damaging remarks about him— but they would be wise to take it with a grain of salt.It is kinda funny watching Greg Gabriel get mad at this. “Oh he damaged his NFL stock blah blah blah”. Exactly and this is simply Tenn. saving face. Guy will get his $ elsewhere and his draft stock will be judged by what he does there.Word is he was "holding out" for more NIL money.
If we cap the amount then doesn't that put us right back where we were with players ending up getting paid under the table over that amount?Dude wasn't good enough for this. Not good for him or college football.
These deals need to be at least 2 years and capped at 2.5 mill.
If his play isn’t drastically better than what we saw at UT, he won’t have much of a draft stock. He started out on fire against inferior competition and then looked mediocre the rest of the way.Exactly and this is simply Tenn. saving face. This is such a complex issue. You are bringing up a good point there about the money under the table. If it goes back to money under the table, then maybe the SEC can start competing for national titles again! lol. @remydatIf we cap the amount then doesn't that put us right back where we were with players ending up getting paid under the table over that amount?
I do think the answer is capping how many times guys transfer
I think it’ll be USC. Makes sense to go back west and get Riley to boot. The one interesting thing is the SEC doesn't allow spring transfers to go to another SEC school.
While I don’t disagree, any monetary caps will get it back to where it was, under the table payment. I think kids should be allowed 1 transfer no matter what, after that it’s either a 6 game ban or something of the sort. Why not put a salary cap per team on the NIL money, and do some revenue sharing, like the NFL. Even the playing field a bit more.
Not really, if a team, say Alabama, is at or near the NIL cap, and suddenly they get a 5 start transfer that could have signed elsewhere for booku NIL bucks, that would raise a huge red flag. While I don’t disagree, any monetary caps will get it back to where it was, under the table payment. There was red flags all the time prior to NIL, it doesn’t matter. They’ll just bring back the “wanting to win a Natty” argument and blah blah blah. Not really, if a team, say Alabama, is at or near the NIL cap, and suddenly they get a 5 start transfer that could have signed elsewhere for booku NIL bucks, that would raise a huge red flag.
