I respectfully disagree that it was PROBABLY fool's gold. It was, as I posted in another topic from his great year to now his wins almost all of them have been against sub .500 teams. Making for bogus stats and false hope. He is a one year college QB who plays exactly like he was a one year starter for a reason. Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, Jimmy Clausen, Christian Ponder, Tim Tebow, RG3, no shame in being a one and done but he is what he is. There is plenty of talent in those names without a uniform on now so stop dragging this dead horse along trying to win the derby ain't happening. Cut ties fuk his Camry hell buy it off him but let this guy sink already into the abyss of forgettable bears QBs.

Ouch ?

Fixed it for you. Yes, they can both get fucked, and they will be equally no matter how much you keep bringing up your "Pace is worse" narrative. They will both share a Black Monday if they do not win in 2021.
you’re intentionally missing my point.

Matt Nagy did not cost the chicago bears a generational talent at QB because he fell in love with a Toyota Camry. Ryan Pace is automatically worse.

From listening to Nagy he seemed to speak more glowingly about Mitch and continued to bring him up after a number of questions. He could have easily decided to officially move on, but he sounded more like someone in favor of bringing him back.

When asked about qualities he values in QBs his first response was that he likes QBs that could move around and make every throw, like Mitch.

He also said that the offense was starting to find an identity toward the end of the year with Mitch.

Of course he tried to speak nicely about Foles, but it seemed more evident to me that it was forced and he rather have Mitch back over him.

Here’s a tweet from Nagy’s buddy, Louis Riddick...

Typical CCS .... lol

Would you rather have a GM that divulges the dislike strategy with ARob in public?
Would you rather have a GM that tells you exactly who they are targetting at QB?

Did any of you nincompoophs have a clue that Pace was going to sign Robert Quinn last FA? Or that he was gonna trade up for Mitch or for Floyd? Or that he was gonna trade for Mack?

My point is Pace is known to not let anyone in the media know his plans and I respect that in a GM and I hope the Bears GM has that quality. So what do you expect in a press conference a couple weeks before FA and with a bunch of potential QBs possible to get in the trade market or via the draft with a trade up?

You want him to tell the Pats he is trading up to 10 for Mac Jones so they can trade up to 9? Or that he is targetting a specific OT or WR at 20? Or tell Seattle via a press conference that he is willing to give up 3 1st rounders for Wilson?

Quite a mensa crowd we got here don't we?

I'm still utterly confused as to why they even called yesterday's press conference.

I think they have one after or during the combine every year. No combine this year but they are probably obligated to still have the presser. That's my guess.

i actually think bringing up the possibility of bringing back Trubisky is an attempted trade negotiation tactic to make themselves seem less desperate, at least i hope that's what they're doing

Agreed. I don't think Pace is dumb enough to think that trotting out his failed first round QB for another season isn't going to provide the perfect stage to justify his firing. If Pace tried to run it back with Mitch/Foles, the story lines of all the other QB changes made this offseason will just put the exclamation point on the storyline that Pace is an idiot who can't fix the most important position on the football team despite all the chances he has had. Unless Pace has actually been given an extension and knows his job is safe beyond 2021/22, I don't see Mitch back here.

You are missing the point.

Nagy is so terrible it will not matter a damn who we get at QB. He has no clue how to run an NFL offense. Pace is on the hook for missing QBs AND hiring Nagy but your schtick is so focused on Pace's mistakes you either ignore, downplay, or obfuscate for Nagy's shittiness here . I have never seen you go on a rant about how terrible Nagy is - only an admittance that he is not good "but Pace blah blah blah".

I never understood why we hired Nagy. There was nothing that jumps out about Nagy

Good for you I guess. He was a red hot name at the time so I was optimistic but again, I don't get paid the big bucks to get these moves right and Nagy is a big miss.

It's why I don't give a shit about this offseason. Even IF we had Watson backing up Wilson, Nagy is so incompetent, Erik Kramer would still have the greatest regular season in modern Bears era.

Heck....come to think of it, I'd be more inclined to bring in Erik Kramer as HC over Nagy. ?

So.... Good observations. Yeah....I remember the "red hot name" narrative, but I've been following the NFL for several decades. I've seen how some ppl are pumped up for no reason. I looked at Nagy and his one yr. of OC experience and just questioned what had he done to make him head & shoulders above other HC candidates. Candidates with more experience, accomplishments and actual HC experience. ?‍♂️ Plus....I looked at career as a player and IMO, that was pretty MEH too.

Nagy is so incompetent

Exactly my friend......and here we are today. ?

the bears won 8 games with nick foles and trubisky. literally 2 back up QBs. you’re going to have a tough time convincing me Nagy couldn’t have gotten 10+ wins with Watson or Mahomes.

Could Foles/Trubisky have gotten more wins with someone other than Nagy.....

million dollar question

considering nobody is even rumored to have been talking about mitch as a starting QB, i’m going to guess the consensus around the league is no.

If Nagy get a Watson or Wilson next year and the Offense takes off, will Nagy get the credit or will the QB?
